Ive been looking into Darkside a little. Im curious if anyone with experience in their server can answer a couple quick questions. Most important, have they made improvements to the legacy ships they way Consortium Gaming did, because the modular ships are inexcusable. Also, their removal of the SODs and replacing them with real NPC boats was a huge improvement.
Also, is there an choice between PVP and PVE grids. We like to build PVE so we dont gotta worry about land raids, then sail over to a PVP grid for some boat fun, maybe the occasional game of king of the mountain on a PVP island. Consortium Gaming has no PVP, and Ghostlands still has SODS, not as good boats, and low players, but it had PVE and PVP grids.

But to answer your question on PvP and PvE. PvP can happen in any grid including free-ports and the royal navy's port, it just has to have a RP reason, (no running and gunning anyone without a rp reason.)

Yea that's a trash way to run a server, griefers can always cop out by saying"It WaS rOlEpLaY." What I was more interested in is their mods, but I already think I know enough to not bother.

It doesn't happen nearly as often as you may think. Admins are really good at stopping the griefers. A majority of everyone on the server seems to do a great job at respecting the RP and not being a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The bad RPers who do kill for no reason tend to get weeded out pretty fast. But best of luck to you and I hope you find a good RP server.

I dont care about RP, I want to know if they have a mod like Consortium Gaming to fix the boats. You are trying to answer questions I did not ask.

Are there safe PVE areas?: A winded response when a simple "no" was apparently the answer.

DSRP has none of the prebuilt boats and has quite a few changes to the vanilla boats such as sloop, schooner, brig and galleon. But if you don't care about RP, then this server is not for you with or without the mods and changes, as it's characters and the stories that lay the foundation for PvP and PvE, with no specific areas designed for either. Hope I've answered your question and that you find what you're looking for.

Maybe. Trying to find the team a new home. If we could play without being harassed by the RP it might work. Official is dead, Consortium has no PVP at all, Ghostlands is dead, this might be our best option ATM.

its a pretty RP heavy server mate i dont think its a place you are looking for if you dont care about the RP.

Darkside RP mods are meant for Darkside RP only. there is a lot of admin work behind them. if you want this for your own server needs its not going to work out for you. darkside has their own fixes for things yes. but somethings are limited by grapeshot, limiting access to files.

There are no PVE grids.
There are still SOTD.
The legacy boats have some stat changes and modifications.

If you don't care about the RP you'll probably not last long on the server as that is the entire purpose of the server. Ignoring the RP going on around you is against the rules.

As a first time Rp player and a pretty heavy PVPer, ive found darkside refreshing, the rules are not oppressing. there is enough PVP to keep a gun on you and a look on the horizon but there has been very little if any greifing or major out of character drama. Its the best form of atlas ive every played and has completely consumed me
