I'm from Sweden so I'd rather be on a server closer to home so that it doesn't affect my ping too much.
Well, one of the things I did like back when I first played it was the fact that we could actually design our own ships. If we can just spend gold to get a premade ship it takes alot of the fun out of it. So my question has more to do with how much of the ship building aspect that is still there, or if it's just simply gone. Can you still build your own ships, even though you must buy the rights for it first or do you just buy and get a generic ship out of the box?
I am mostly interested in playing this game with a few friends and PVP is not a valid option for me, because I don't like how people can just raid my stuff and halt my progress when I'm offline (or online, doesn't matter. Just play with me or leave me be but don't let the game be a waste of time for me). Back in the days me and my friends could get on a PVE server 10X10 grid (I think) with everything amplified x5, or something like that, which made it easier to make progress faster. Is this still possible?
I do like the idea of farmhouses though! Does this work with gold aswell? Can you sell crops and stuff for money?
I too believe games nowadays gets too much undeserved negative feedback. When I played this game it had "Mostly negative" reviews and I had a hell lot of fun with it and never understood it. People also review things that makes me go "eh? What?". But the reviews about ship building not being in the game did get my eyebrows to raise because that would be a cardinal sin.
There have been changes, and new items. I d specifically wanna mention automation. The devs said they want people spend more time at sea, thus they decreased the need of taming breeding and gathering materials.
People nowdays spam farm houses and warehouses which auto collect from farmhouses.
There are not significant changes in mechanics and the way to play the game.
Overall, the game hasnt change much. Worst problem in my opinion is that there are still bugs that kill you, make you lose personal items animals and crew members.
I wish this game was more liek Ark, where they actually could fix major issues, expand and add new way to play. Atlas is slower. It is slower to be developed, slower to be polished and improved.
At the end of the day, it is one of the few games of this kind. If I quit it today, I dont have the same game to play. And so I and my fellow Atlas players curse the game and then we keep playing :-)
That means I, as a f**king european, might be able to enjoy their official PVE pretty well?
I am kinda hoping the game dies and is abandoned so modders can make it somewhat playable again without having the mods broken by some new idiotic update that further hampers the already fragile stability of the game.
I see your point, but I hope that the devs actually make it a better game. If it gets abandoned the game itself will die a horrible, horrible death.
