Taming rotating giraffe?
I tamed a few giraffes some time ago, both was easily tamed using trap and by just chasing it with a bear.

Now I tried to tame 2 giraffes, both was rotating every ~20 seconds.
For a short while it wasn't rotating, during this time it was possible to feed it without getting hit.
When they rotated I think they got a bigger attack area so it was nearly impossible to feed it without getting hit.
I tried using both trap and knocking it out in the open, and it still rotated without the trap so the rotating wasn't related to it.

I ended up killing both giraffes, 1 was losing so much taming progress because of all the deaths and had 3 random giraffes walking too close so had to kill them. So I just gave up on it and tried again.
2nd giraffe ended up rotating into me so I couldn't move or even retrieve my body after dying (until I killed it).

Is there any good way to tame giraffes when they bug out or any way to avoid it happening?

I've had this problem too... not just with giraffes, though it's mostly them. But I've only ever tamed in traps. Did there happen to be any rocks or other terrain objects nearby?

I think their position changes because when they "thrash", their invisible hitboxes collide with the trap and/or other static objects, and the game rotates the giraffe to remove the collision condition. Basically, part of the game engine thinks they're still free and walking around, and tries to keep them from clipping into objects.

Sadly, I don't think there's any way to prevent this entirely. You might be able to reduce it somewhat by having two people do the taming... one to bola it, and one to feed it. Have the person doing the bola-ing move a good distance away immediately after the giraffe goes down. The giraffe should only aggro on the person who bola'd it, and stop thrashing once that person moves far enough away. Then the other person can move in and feed.

First time I though it was because it was stuck in a billboard, but 2nd attempt I knocked out a giraffe in a completely open area on a flat beach, then put a fairly big circle of 6 billboards around it, but it was still rotating.

Another I was also knocking out in a open area on the beach with no billboards around it and no rocks, fairly flat and it was also rotating.
