Why does Grapeshot have Racist Rules in their discord? was this a mistake or typo?

I felt compelled to leave their discord after i have read a rule that states basically Non-english speaking patrons of this game are not allowed to speak within your discord. I had one friend get kicked from their discord and when i read their discord rules i was just in disbelief.

I truly hope this was some kind of mistake, i really do. Racism and intolerance of patrons who speak languages have always been shunned within the steam community. Is there a reason grapeshot feels the need to enforce clearly racist rules?

he speaks primarily Spanish, as he typed in Spanish asking a question about the game in discord he was told English only he then replied..obviously in spanish, and was muted for 12 hours, after being muted he messaged a Dev or mod to say his english isnt that good. he was then banned from the server seconds after asking very politely a question in the only language he knew.

you can say anything you want, but its racism pure and simple, their rules even say english speaking only in discord. no matter how you defend or twist it, its a intolerance of other language which translates directly to racism

pretty sure it has nothing to do with racism. they may not have a spanish speaking person on staff. so if the folks they have on staff on discord only speak english then they can only respond in english, and read questions in english.

in their minds they have to moderate the discord and if they are unable to moderate a language then how do they know they aren't typing something offensive? Even if they did have someone who spoke spanish on the team I doubt they would allow it because what if someone wants to speak russian or german. Just gotta do a blanket overall english only. It isn't that suprising definitly not racist. Just is what it is if your friend is looking for advice/questions go to the Atlas Help Server discord ton of people there familiar with offical and unoffical servers.

What I find intriguing with this thread is there are so many people trying to argue with someone who is obviously close minded.
It's like they think can magically make the OP open minded enough to understand the denotative definition(dictionary and legal) trumps the OP's connotative definition(emotional interpretation).

No, it doesn't. :D Try as hard as you like to use the racist card on this, and you'll fail. I've played MMORPGS that had French and German chat channels, for example, and I didn't consider it racist if they stipulated only French and German were allowed in those channels.

Yeah, sorry bud, but having rules that define English only is not racist at all, nor is it intolerant. It was already pointed out, if you do not have bilingual moderators, you cannot moderate ACTUAL racism, hate speech, anything derogatory , etc. If you do not know what is being said.

Racism is me prejudicing and discriminating against you because of your nationality or color of your skin.

It does not include what you speak.
