The only developers who work on both Ark and Atlas are Jesse Rapczak and Jeremy Stieglitz, they are the lead developers and co-founders of both Wildcard and Grapeshot. Beyond that, Atlas and Ark have their own development teams. They specifically said that they were doing a one-year-long recruitment phase to ensure that development on Atlas was not coming at the expense of Ark. Atlas' development didn't halt during Genesis' launch or last few months of development. Currently in Phase 1 of the roadmap and we have already seen 2 patches to prove it.
Has all work on Atlas stopped? No, they are bug fixing and doing some re-balancing. The patches since the XBox release have all felt like post-launch maintenance and upkeep and not actual active game development.
It honestly feels they took all the Xbox Atlas money and poured it into Ark: Genesis. Now that Genesis Part 1 is out, Wildcard is committed for the rest of the year on Part 2. Then MAYBE they might go back to working on Atlas. But I doubt it. "Roadmap" or no, progress on Atlas has halted. Even if they were to get back on track, the Roadmap basically said no new content until Phase 4 and as Phase 1 is in it's 6th month, we can't expect the Ships/Seas overhaul or Combat overhaul (Phase 2 and 3) to be done by the end of the year. That's based on the assumption they take devs off working on Ark and put them back on Atlas. Which they've shown no signs of doing.
Thanks for the information. Makes me wonder why they even created another company to develop Atlas.
