How to put the sails on a schooner and in which order?

The order doesn’t matter. What sail combo are you putting on? When you put them on there will be mounting points on the deck.

With the updates in the way sails work with wind I would go large speed, small speed and forego the handelimg sail. You boat won’t turn as well but the main advantage of the handelimg sail was the ability to catch wind when the speed sails wouldn’t. Now you get a 30% wind rate even sailing against the wind. Are you going to use an npc crew?

But first I want to make sure that I always have enough gold for the crew.

With a schooner you’re probably gonna want at least 1 npc. That’s a hard ship to sail solo. It can probably be done but if you get into a spot (sotd, or storm) one misstep could cost you everything. They’re actually pretty cheap to keep on hand. Just gather a little flotsam here and there and you’ll have more than enough to pay him.

Are you just starting out because if you are I got a few tips that might help you and save you some grief.

Speed sail or steering sail? I think you can on speed sail but not the steering sail at least I wasn’t able to. Maybe someone with some more experience here can chime in.

1 large speed sail is all you need. It takes me about 10 minutes at full speed to cross a sector. I can handle it solo but i have 1 sailor up top to handle it and 1 below for repairs while anchored(also as back up) cuz crocs tend to kill the ones up top.

You can put the smaller speeds sails but you just wont go as fast and its harder to solo multiple sails.

I now have 1 large speed and 1 small handling.
After the patch I will test it, at the moment to laggy
I hope i am faster than the Ghost ships then :)
