are the bigger ships even worth it?
for th past 3 days me and my friends have been playing on the 1st day we made a schooner and then the next day it got stuck and someone destroyed it that day we made a sloop and its perfect for 3 people but its so small and so weak that when we got off it got destroyed so im just wondering if its even worth it to make bigger ships in a small group

schooner seems to do the job for us atm 8 canons 9 k carry weight and crazy speeds. We are still building bigger vessels for the sake of it tho xD

Sloop = starter ship.
Schooner = large ship with a big sail, good for scouting/attacking greens/some moving.
Brig = merchant ship, good for hauling resources between island.
Galleon = guild ship, good at everything but needs like 10 people or lots of tames to work.

Get a sloop, find an island with creatures you can tame, get a schooner, get a brig, NPC crew them, get a galleon once you got spare time, or farm like mad.

but for 3 people a schooner takes so long like 4 hours to make just to have it destroyed

Right now sloop is the best ship to make. It is very fast to make and can do things good enough but can't carry much and can't fight.

When they fix the exploit to sink ships with weight/crew limit then I think the brig will be the best for anyone that doesn't have a lot of active people, Schooner or sloop for people that aren't very active.

Ships and the crew need upkeep so having a big ship means having to harvest a lot of resources and get a fair amount of gold just to pay for the upkeep.
A brig costs ~200 gold per day and uses 1-2k wood when repairing. (galleon is 6x cost so should be 6x as much and ~1.1k gold for crew upkeep)

For PVP I think Sloop is the best ship for anyone that isn't in a mega company, galleons for those people since they can protect their ships and doesn't take much effort for them to make them.

I suggest building a Brig on PvE, just had mine sunken last night (fully painted, 10 cannons on the back, platforms, our entire base o.o) by a whale whilst we were sleeping, building another 1 right now.

Get cannons on the brig and kill some ghost ships easily, it will lvl up very fast to like lvl 25, put all points into Crew size at 1st imo, then u will have like 33 crew size or somethin (no need to worry about people sinking ur ship by standing on it), then u can improve from there on, if u want more cannons/npcs n stuff.

NPC Crew's food goes down extremely slow, put their lvl up points into food/stamins i think, feed them like once a day or so. They are pretty cheap to maintain imo, just do a few treasure maps nearby.

you get nothing from killing ships of the damned so any ship bigger then a Schooner its useless for day to day on pve only reason to build bigger is to show off look what i have kind of thing

A schooner with the new carry weight buff will satisfy a solo player or small crews needs. You need to build front and rear cannons on it though, 2 in front 2 in back, and put the rest on the broadsides. A brigantine is great and probably the maximum a solo can effectively use but you'd need a full npc crew to really use it effectively

but the schooner is over 10x the sloop price

Sloops cannot have a dingey attached to them, so for me that is a deal breaker, teh SChooner is pretty good for a small team, upgrading to a brig as you can.

the dingey just sucks in the 1st place its since all the land you can anchor at is litterally on the beach si the dingey has no rrue purpose other than getting away for 3 people the schooner is insanly overpriced for taking a whole day to build but the sloop is to weak it seams to actually use what they truly need to do is remove the medium planks and make the schooner use small planks since the schooner uses the small shipyard it all makes sense the schooner would be 5k instead of double that

honestly a schooner is great, you can hire AI npc's for cannons and sails. brig is even better so even tho you have a small party you can still use the bigger ships with ease. schooners take just a few hours to build with 3 people gather mats, hell it took me and 2 others around 6-8 hours to gather mats to make a brig on the 2.5 gather event before they reduced mats needed. so its not hard and now its even easier.

but its so big and so much more expensive than a sloop if we spend 4 hours to build a schooner that can get stuck and is so much bigger but a sloop takes us like 10 mins to make and i smaller and faster
