Schooner = large ship with a big sail, good for scouting/attacking greens/some moving.
Brig = merchant ship, good for hauling resources between island.
Galleon = guild ship, good at everything but needs like 10 people or lots of tames to work.
Get a sloop, find an island with creatures you can tame, get a schooner, get a brig, NPC crew them, get a galleon once you got spare time, or farm like mad.
all base harvesting is x2 now so its not too bad tbh, and its so fast so u can outrun pretty much anything just be aware of whats around u tho if ur playing pvp id stick with a sloop lol cuz ppl...
When they fix the exploit to sink ships with weight/crew limit then I think the brig will be the best for anyone that doesn't have a lot of active people, Schooner or sloop for people that aren't very active.
Ships and the crew need upkeep so having a big ship means having to harvest a lot of resources and get a fair amount of gold just to pay for the upkeep.
A brig costs ~200 gold per day and uses 1-2k wood when repairing. (galleon is 6x cost so should be 6x as much and ~1.1k gold for crew upkeep)
For PVP I think Sloop is the best ship for anyone that isn't in a mega company, galleons for those people since they can protect their ships and doesn't take much effort for them to make them.
Get cannons on the brig and kill some ghost ships easily, it will lvl up very fast to like lvl 25, put all points into Crew size at 1st imo, then u will have like 33 crew size or somethin (no need to worry about people sinking ur ship by standing on it), then u can improve from there on, if u want more cannons/npcs n stuff.
NPC Crew's food goes down extremely slow, put their lvl up points into food/stamins i think, feed them like once a day or so. They are pretty cheap to maintain imo, just do a few treasure maps nearby.
