What is a Lighthouse supposed to do?

lol how is a real lighthouse relevant to this game at all? we have maps and exact coords. I dont think we're getting lost at sea.

Lighthouses not only help the lost at sea, it helps people avoid shallows. Its just a lighthouse, it lights things up.....lol

They may be helpful in case of fog, I noticed than in the snow region sometimes there is a very dense fog which hides the island in the horizon, a lighthouse would be nice for those who still haven't discovered the server to know where a safe port is.

lol, I saw one gal see a light house and ooh, whats that.. and head straight to it.. only to get her raft murdered by a sandbar after getting really stuck on it .. I am guessing was the reason for the lighthouse to begin with.. to warn on avoiding that area of shallow water *snicker*

To avoid bird collisions... or something

It's purpose, along with Buoys, originally was to prevent resources from respawning on half that server.
Now I think it's moved onto nuking that servers framerates.

Basically never build one while the game is in early EA. Sounds like it's always causing some sort of issue.
