Question about NPC crew members
So if I pay to have a Npc crew member, are they basically like a tame as long as I keep giving them gold. Can I have them follow me into base and will stay or do they go away after some time if not payed?

If you don't pay them they will stop working and eventually mutany. At which point they will become hostile and start attacking things.

Seriously wow. Ok maybe I will just man my own damn ship for awhile longer until have more gold LUL.

Another thought, you probably could just "rent" them I suppose? If I just wanted to use them for a trip back and "unclaim?"

Just shoot them in the head when you get to your home port if you don't need them.
They are really useful for manning sails and if you leave them on board while am bored they will fix your ship for you but that's about the end of it.
They are pretty costly if you are just keeping them around for no reason.

They will have a sweeping animation while they are restoring the boat.

You know what I seen that on a stream but didn't realize they were restoring. Nice!
