ATLAS
[CONFIRMED FIX] System, Client instability & long loading times during loading into the game.
Hello everyone.

I've found a fix that solves the issue of the system and client becoming unresponsive during loading into the game, which also happen to reduce load times significantly and reduce the stress put onto the drive that it's being loaded from. This has been confirmed to work by alot of people and the devs.

In my investigation in an attempt to find out what could be the cause of this issue, which you can read about here: https://www.playatlas.com/index.php?/forums/topic/11535-client-instability-potential-causes/ lead me towards the solution, so onto the solution, though be warned: You have to do a bit a of manual work here.

The Solution:
1. Step
  1. Navigate to where Atlas is installed - this you can easily find without any real hassles. First right click on the game name in the steam library, click on properties, then click on the local files tab, then click on the browse local files. This will open the game folder where the game is installed.
  2. Then navigate to this folder: ATLAS\ShooterGame\Content\Movies.
  3. Create a folder named Backup in this folder.
  4. Move AtlasTitle.wmv and LoadingScreen.wmv to the backup folder.

2. Step
  1. Launch the game.
  2. Join the server of your choice.

Notes:
This fix ONLY addresses instability issues and long loading times, because the instability and long loading times is caused by those video files being read/loaded a massive amount of times during loading into the game.

If this for some reason don't work for you, please do comment here for further help.

If you need to revert back to the original state, just move the two files back from the backup folder into the folder they came from and you'll have it back to the original state.

Furthermore, this fix has already been implemented into the startup parameter
-lowmemorymode, but since this is not a low memory issue but a different one, I recommend applying what this guide says to start with, and if you have issues of the game crashing upon successful loading, then do add the -lowmemorymode to startup parameter to see if this helps.

[DISCLAIMER]
You accept the consequenses of anything you do on your computer, where Grapeshot or me cannot be held accountable for any issues or loss of data you may encounter in your efforts in doing the above.

However I do not think this will cause any loss of data and the solution provided can easily be reverted back to original state. Furthermore, I'm currently using this fix myself, and have not have any loss of data so far.

IF this worked for you, be sure to comment, leave a like and be sure to let others know of this fix.

Happy Gaming!

I also posted the guide on their official forum a few days ago:

Many thanks
My game wasn't loading after 10 minutes and a couple times I had to hard reset the PC :berserk:
This also works for Ark:Survival Evolved

You're welcome.
Yep, and the reason this also works for Ark: Survival Evolved is due it basically being the same game, just with a different skin and different content - the same framework and game engine.

Also, as far as I've been able to gather so far, it's only people who're using HDD's who're getting this issue, when running it from an SSD. What type storage device were you getting this issue?
