How do you get AI crew to repair your ship?
My buddies and I have a Galleon with a crew of 50. We haven't maxed out our cannons yet and have a few guys with nothing to do. Thought we could put them on wonder with mats in thier inventory and they would repair the ship. Haven't seen them repair anything and it's a pain in the ass having to run around all day just repairing. Anyone know how it works?

Lol wander with matts in there inv? Do you even read the skill tree Damm! You put a ship resource box down with the matts in it. Then simply have your crew on deck not wander. They will do a sweaping animation thats when they repair. And it only works while the Anchor is down. Make a hammer so you can repair your ship using the repair box resources. Tht's how it all works. This is not Ark lol.

I did read the skill tree and it doesn't say anything about AI repairing the ship and your right about it not being ARK, like having NPC's on a ship were a pretty big clue. Now, as for them repairing, THEY DON'T DO IT, at all. Anchor down, Anchor up, sailing, stationary. They don't repair. A buddy heard you had to put matts in thier inventory for them to do it. I just put them on wander to see if that would "trigger" it and it doesn't so I came here to see if anyone had figured it out. No need to be an ass if you don't know, just say you don't know.

You need to be anchored, and enough resources in your ship resource box, its 100% automated by any crew at that point

It wasn't working, we tried everything. I talked to my buddy who runs the server and he restarted it and now it's working. He doesn't know why it wasn't working but it is now.

They work fro the ship storage buddy ;) Atleast on my server it's not bugged!! Then u use the hammer and it pulls the resources from the chest. Derp!

Take the one you have set to sails when you are anchored walk up to them and click unseat option. after a few minutes of standing they will start sweeping indicating they have started to repair.Automated repair takes quite some time versus doing it yourself.

Idle Crew is the key here, you will see them swabbing the deck.

If you open the ship stat sheet under accommodations it mentions crew auto repair while anchored.

Hi everyone, we have tried everything you all have suggested, and the only issue I ran across is that we cannot move a repair hammer into the ship resource box.

The idle crew does sweep when standing but the repairs do not happen, even with every resource in the ship resource box.

Also, I don't see an "accommodations" entry in the ship properties window.

The repair hammer isn't for them, it's for you to use to make repairs. It automatically pulls from the resource box so you don't have to lug mats around, especially in an emergency situation. the only stuff that goes in the resource box are gold, to pay the crew, and resources.

Can't help with why it's not working for you, sorry.

Ok, thanks for replying. Well, I guess I'll let it sit overnight again and see if the restart fixes it.

Only repair they do is passive repair when the ship is anchored, as long as the resources to repair are in the ships resource chest. They will repair the actual ship parts, not your added wooden ones, I think.
They will need.. wood thatch fiber metal and hide.. and if you have cannons and all, then Alloy as well. I usually keep a little over 1k of wood, thatch and fiber.. a couple hundred metal and hide and about 50 alloy in my ship chest at all times. When out on the ship I run around with a repair hammer in my hand to top things off after a fight.
It is as well good to keep a couple planks and gunports, an extra sail and wheel and deck and maybe a few ladders and if you built on you top deck then extra wooden building pieces as well. Those extras keep ships from sinking, often :P
If you are playing with friends on the ship, Buckets as well.. I have seen ships that were missing planks stay afloat for a very long time while the players bucketed all the way home to replace the planks misisng lol.
