ATLAS
Stone water reservoir
Does anyone know how to properly set up water reservoirs so they collect water?

Pretty sure you just set them up under the sun and when it rains they will fill.

I know on Ark that's how it worked, but I've been hearing that people are having a hard time getting their reservoirs and barrels to fill. I'm hoping someone who's successfully done it on Atlas will see this post.

Barrels fill all at once but hard to tell as rain in Atlas is invisible and inaudible, unlike in Ark. You have to press E to open the lid to catch it, then close it when full enough of the water gradually depletes.

Never tried a reservoir as yet. I read a couple of times that the "Underground Pipe" accesses water, no idea how. Maybe in areas where you would usually dig for water?

Thank you! I'll comment on here if I figure out the reservoir.

I built two just outside my house. The soil is not green enough to drink from so that's not a requirement. The reservoirs fill up with time. I don't know the easiest way to use them probably, but what worked for me was to attach an irrigated pipe to it, and a water tap to the pipe.

I couldn't fill a regular waterskin by putting it inside the reservoir. I also couldn't fill it when the water tap was direclty attached to the reservoir, nor could I drink from it like this.

You need to go reservoir -> pipe -> tap. It took me a few hours of playing around with things before I discovered that.

Once you create a Water pipe system, go to "Place" the water pipe system and then hit T before you place it to change the water pipe system type from: tap, pipe, etc. Hitting "T" before placing something is very handy just so you can see what's available. For example, if you want to place a door, it took me a while to realize that i had to build a wall, then hit "T" to cycle through all the different wall types....door included.

I actually think the stone resevoir is the well in Atlas. It fills up slowly no matter what. Doesnt need rain.

To drink just have to add a pipe then tap. Tap directly to the well with no pipe doesnt work.

Joining two together with a pipe and then a pipe and tap at one end doesnt work. The pipe and tap only use water from well its coming out of and not the other one. So got to have pipe and taps to each well seperately. Knowing this may help with watering crops as well.

I have about 30 resevoir's daisy chained together watering all my plants and providing water inside our base. It should pull from all of them. The only thing that stops them from filling up is anything directly above them. I've tried all the building pieces and hatches, if anything is over them they will not fill. Also if you need to pipe from a distance just keep adding pipes until it says it's too far away from the source and drop another resevoir. Then you can continue on.

If you need only to drink, brrels re better.
Fill faster and can put 2 ... inside.

Don't barrels need to be open to the sky for the rainfall?

I tossed a couple on my house and they constantly fill up over time. connect them together with pipes then run pipes into the house with a tap on it.
