Ship customization?
Can ship be painted or put a ram on it or a flag or anything like that?

I am genuinely afraid to take my ship out of dock because i wont grind to build another any time soon so i really dont want to lose it.

I got one cannon on it. :) Atlas is a great game but needs to treat players efforts better.

Next to the worry of losing the ship, crew costs is the next thought.

Atlas is an amazing game with alot to offer but its not very nice in some ways. Maybe with trade runs paying for crew wont be such a gamble.

Is that a schooner, Flippy?

Yep and she is basically ready to sail with an extra plank to boot. I am looking into getting 1 npc crew for the center sail to start but i am worried about upkeep.

Were you able to ceiling off the back part into being solid flooring somehow? It almost looks like you did in the image. Just curious because I'm trying to get a good build together for mine.

it turned out great. Used triangle pieces under where the cannons will go and just built regular walls to make a lockable area to go under deck.

Weight is a factor for speed so... Spots for 2 cannons fore and aft and not sure about sides. Will be only running for a long while anyway. :)

you should undock it, because claiming the dock would take like 30min (when they find your sleeping body), but claiming a Ship takes like 2 days or something.

I dont know how it works outside lawless waters actually but everything is safe in lawless unless abandoned.

Left side of screen is where a rope ladder work well so the stairs are set back a bit.

2 medium sails is 3.4 sail use.

1 medium and 2 small is 3.7 sail use.

Dont really know what works better but went with the numbers.

Dang, nice looking schooner!! I just bought Atlas, a few of my friends had it so I caved and bought it, loved ARK (they have ship building mods for it now!) so figured I'd like this, my biggest thing right now is same as you, I'm worried about investing hours of my time into building, and fitting out a ship just to lose it.

Hence I'm hoping that like ARK I can host my own game with my PC and set it to private/invite only so that I can enjoy testing ship designs without other players effing me over, or maybe there is a PVE server!

I dont know what Ark is but looks like Atlas is going to be a proper MMO.

I again dont know anything but a proper MMO doesnt have players losing everything all the time so not sure what happens and just hope it isnt anything like Ark.

I reccomend carrying some extra planks, i very HIGHLY reccomend it, as well as a surplus of repair materials, you have both of those you should be okay, though arming properly would not hurt, and having atleast crew to man the sails will be very helpful, the seas are dangerous, those ships of the damned actually do have some decent punch, they can deal out some serious damage pretty quickly, but they are generally easy to outrun most times with the wind

Alievate your stress by not sailing beyond your capabilities. A solo player has no business captaining a ship bigger than a schooner at the most. Even a group of 3-4 is better off on a schooner than anything bigger.

A sloop isn't hard to replace for an established solo player and a schooner should be cake for a group of 3-4. Trying to run a brig or a galleon as solo/small group is only going to cause you misery and set you back from progressing

Any idea on crew costs details? One gold an hour seems extremely steep.
