How do you actually play with friends?

I'm trying to play this game with a friend on Steam but we can't actually see eachother to be able to invite eachother to a company. We pick the same location on the map, and the same starting zone within that square, and we stand in the same exact spot but can't see eachother.

Logically the only thing I can think of is that we are in different servers as I'm sure we're in the same location. How do we get on the same server? We've tried inviting/joining eachother through Steam but it doesn't make any difference.

Also I'm getting very tired of not being able to spawn into my beds. I have 3 rafts out in the middle of nowhere that the game has decided that I can't spawn to.

you can easy se were you are some were on the top rigth if you press I , or another menu, cant remeber at the top of my head

each start zone has 4 islands north east west south there npc on/near dock can travel to each island make sure you guys on same one all four look the same

Yes we are on the same exact dock. We sent pictures of the fully zoomed in map to eachother to confirm.

odd, both of you in official pvp ? just asking well i guess you are , hmm odd

there was 2 others that had the same problem but theres was not on the same server, i mean the same island

ive had problems of it reporting port location wrong.
have one stand at dock and other use ferryman to check the others

aah the issjue i told on was pvp i think, but it shoude not be diffrent from pvp t pve on that part,, but the the advice over head
