It's frustrating acquiring lots of food only to have to watch it rot because you can't overeat, you may as well eat what you can and dump the rest because it won't last anyway.
You need a Preserving Bag ((Crafted in the Loom)), and Preserving Salts ((Crafted in the Mortar and Pestle.)) As others have said, you need to mix raw salt with with flint, and it's a 1x1 ratio, that nets you two Preserving Salts. Once you have a Bag and Preserving Salts, you can put the salt in the bag and put cooked food inside to extend the spoil timers. OR if you have more salt than you do know what to do with, you can put raw meat, ((Either regular or fish)) in the bag, and like a cooking pot, it will "Cure" the food and make it so you can take it out on the sea without it spoiling as quickly as say normal cooked food. ((Keep in mind it WILL dehydrate you rapidly. So don't eat to much if you don't have a reliable source of water!))
