how do you kill the warriors of the damned?

Me and my friend are trying t go treasure hunting but most of the time we have to turn back due to the fact that its impossible to kill these things. We are going at them with blunderbusses, muskets, and bows but they either deal little to no damage or they wind up killing us with attacks that shouldn't have been close even if they are area of affect ability. Is there some sort of method or weapon we should be using?

I don't know if it still works, but shooting a fire arrow below it (so the ground catch fire) and let it stand in the fire killed them in a few seconds before.

I also used tiger to kill lvl 30 army of the damned (2k+ gold treasure maps) before pets got damage reduction, so it should be even easier now than before.

we kept running into the problem where they would constantly tunnel underground which was the main reason we had to give up since their health would reset

also we are hoping to figure a way of hunting without the use of a tame

if there standard level their really not hard to kill, you need to break the group up and kill them one or two at a time. Really easy with some pistols or the rifle, have a sword ready for if they get close. Really not sure why people think theyre so hard.

thats the thing though from what I understand they shouldn't be that hard but when we try to kite them they tunnel and reset we couldn't kill level 30 warriors and we were heavily struggeling with level17s. the small fry are relativly easy and harmles but the large warriors either tunnel spam us, kill us with attacks while we are out of range, or their hit box bugs out.

ye you need to keep them close and active, like if you climb a rock they know they cant get you and will tunnel away. Oh forgot to mention, grenades are great for these too. But I do agree they can be a pain in the arse, plus if the fight takes too long all of them reappear.
Hire some crew too and kit them out, would make for a good distraction while you maul them :P

Fire arms are way too overrated in the game at the moment.
Use a bear/lion/tiger/wolf/giraffe (works awesome btw).
Fire arrows are the best solution if one does not want to use tames.

They heal if you take too long or if they get low on health, you just need to have enough dps.

You can probably shoot at them from range then run in and melee, if you are multiple players your melee attacks should probably kill them while they are doing the burrow animation.

You could probably also just go on a cliff/rock, shoot a fire arrow below them (even if it is nerfed so 1 fire arrow isn't enough to kill them anymore it should still deal significant damage) and then spam arrows on them while they are burning.

i shoot at them at 1st but once they get in close pull out a melee weapon and keep running around behind them and stabbing them in the butt

i solo even the toughest ones with my pack of 4 bears , use blunderbuss on the big guy to break his armour for faster kills

1st take out their marksman they are weak btw, than u can run around food soldiers, dont forget to side step when fighting so they will miss u, with this tactic I solo treasures with just sword, well I also use fire arrow when they appear so they will get burned little, but remeber marksman first, cuz when u stop to fight food soldiers marksmen are hitting you like training target
