Mean whale location?

So I build a schooner with some balistas for some whaling. The wiki says the mean whale has a confirmed spawn in B5.
Is there any other location? I'm based in K8 and that's a looong way to sail, some closer spots would be sweet to know and maybe some experience from someone who fought against it

We get them in the most of the artic areas. Nice golden per killed... About 2k each and it's just so much fun! But there always seems to be tons of higher level sod sometimes 7 at a time while kiting the whales. Personally the gentle whales do more than damage to the our schooler lol

Arctic? The wiki says there are no spawns on the arcitc clusters o.O
Have to make some fur gear i guess :D
btw: you get that gold in your inventory like on a treasure hunt or do i have to loot them?

We have a gotten several there but they are not many but they are there we got two in a hour and a half after getting down there

I was in B3 and saw in 15 mins of driving 3 whales. So they Spawn there

WIKI can be wrong...especially on a game that is being developed as you play... might be right in the Am and 3 patches later be 100% wrong same day in the PM

Lol takes a good driver to kite those suckers and don't use npc they will BURN your balista ammo like matchsticks!!

Okay so i planned to get there with my schooner, 5 balistas on the back and manned with npc crew. Sounds i need a lot of ammo :D

Ya so we had one npc on a balista and we manned the other three (pc players) got one or two hits first round it got 0 but the npc shot probably 15—18 times everyone a miss.! We took him off obviously! The what needs to be in spitting distance to even hit it!

Npc MIGHT do better on the non aggressive whales but those things hit our ship alot on the ones we went after!

How many hits did it take to kill that big one? I guess i have to wait till weekend to get my company aboard :)

We used about 25 on the one without npc shooting Lol

Ok that's not too bad, i have like 130 bolts on the boat. The main reaon i want to kill that guy is for the discovery points you should get the first time. The gold is a very nice side effect :P

Ya you get a lot of the points that's true... I'll do it over and over for the absolute fun though! But I would recommend at least one other live person to repair on the the fly! There are a kit of sod down there!
