Has anybody tried breeding bears?
I got a 29female(pretame) and a 26 male that i think is good enough to get started, but i don't know what climate they require or a good strategy to breeding. should i do it inside a stone building etc?

Anybody know?and what do you feed the babys? just berry's?

Babies eat berries, and need a controlled temperature or they take damage.

It’s an absolute nightmare to breed right now. Feel accomplished if you succeed feel like everyone else if you fail.

Yeah I stayed up until 2 am last night trying to fight to save my baby bear "Hope". I couldn't keep going and had to let him die. Devs really need to fix breeding. It is nearly impossible in the arctic zones or deep tropical zones.
I was going tell you that breeding with bears is illegal in most of the world but then realized you were'nt into bestiality but were maybe just a voyeur.

Hi everyone,

On last weekend i tried to breed Bears.

At first, i stay on A11, the weather conditions in this grid are possible for breeding bears.
I handle the Temperatures like: cold -> campfires 1-3, hot (>22°C) -> forcefeed the Babys until they have enough health to stay alive without campfire & forcefeed.

But the bigger problem was the "no food consumption" feature from the tamed animales during my offline time.
All my baby bears died based on this feature cause they permanently loos life and must eat.
In my case the bears need 8h for 17,8% maturation, so i need to stay online for about 40h.
With the automatic inactivity logout feature it's impossible for me to breed bears.

My Fazit: There is no relation to breed animals against taming.
Taming: ~30min
Breeding: 4h Gestation, 40h Maturation.

I hope the developer take this in mind and consider to make adjustments.

I'm in Tropical region, in fact with the position of my small island and the barn positioned over water my region is considered "Tropical Open Water" and my bear had 'Undesirable biome for mating' written above it constantly even when temp was down to 18oC.

I'm not sure if they can't breed at all in Tropical or if it was because of the Open Water aspect. If they can't breed at all in Tropical due to the temperature why do they spawn there?

We have penguin fires torches and everything else on a temperate island where bears live and unless you are willing to stay on line until they have enough hp to handle a cold snap (about 30 hours) or some rediculous highway temperature you will lose the babies every time. It seems to me that the eradicate temperature (we had a temp of 120 c on a temperate island) and inability to leave a juvenile animal unattended makes breeding a no go at this time. I've raised so many animals in Ark but this game at this time is a nightmare!

Need to have a cow before you can start breeding since the babies will require milk until the get past the infant stage. You will have to be able to stay near you bear until it gives birth about 4 hours and then another for 4 hours to get past the first stage. So make sure you have a good supply of milk before hand. With how bad the tempature swings are and how narrow a band of temp it has to be it is a real pain in the bunghole It is faster to just tame more. Breeding gives no additional benifit.

I think the only animals that are worth breeding are the panadas and triceratopes(yes they are ingame I have seen a couple already)

Finally some useful information.

So it sounds like i need
1.Temperate zone
2.cow for milk
4. 4hr gestation
5.40hr maturation

? does that sound about right?

Some of you tried to take the baby on a boat and sail to the border?

so the best way is to breed them in the arctic because its easy to warm them with fire but no way to cool them.(if they get hot they are dead) also they eat meat best but they will only eat prime if they have no reg meat. berrys work but meh not as good.i needed 3 fires to keep it warm durring day and up to 16 fires at night in a little 5x5 stone room.tryed temperate too but a heat wave will kill the baby there.

In Russia you don’t breed the bear; The bear breeds you

Hi everyone,

@mad viper: There is actual no mechanic to cool down the juvenile's, but you can force-feed them to keep there live up, so i do.
