Advise on ship building
Hi all, I'm building a schooner, I'm making the captains quarters, but I've run into a problem.
I can't place a ceiling tile in the area below.

Anyone got advise or a work around?

In those instances, I've had good luck using the triangle ceiling pieces. Play around with those a bit and see. There's still gaps, but nothing as big as leaving it just an empty space.

got same problem hehe ,if u put triangle in middle it will make harder to use stern ladder ,i was always dropped down when climbed it ,while i got triangle ceiling there,

There is a trick to placing ceiling tiles flush with the rear of a schooner. You want to place them before placing the rear planks. Or with an already built ship, you can demo those rear planks and place the ceilings, then replace the planks.

Note: You'll want to be pretty quick, so your ship doesn't sink. I recommend having the replacement planks already crafted.

Hi all,

thanks for the recommendations.
I went for the below in the end. There are positives and negatives.

jkvantuyl, I gave the triangles a go, kinda worked. I then put chests and seat over them to try and hide, but it got to finicky :(
Baratheon79 I'll give your idea a try sometime.
gerald2 I think I might have the same issue here lol

Shame there aren't more specialised shapes for that area.

ive added 2 ladders on ship sides ,i don't use this stern one :) it seems easier to climb those on sides even it seems .And aye i agree they should add something like half ceiling or so ,if remember in ARK there was an option to eliminate such colisions ,dunno if atlas have it also .

I think your right, it might have been a mod. It's a shame because even tho it would clip a little I don't think it would spoil the look of the ship.

Some curve would be nicer than the square box I now have lol.

I did have the thought of going down into the ship rather than, popping up.
Maybe leave the back area clear of ceiling squares and build a captains area down into the belly, I'll try next ship I do.

use catwalks

i've always used catwalks as well when i can't fit square ceilings. triangle ceilings tend to leave gaps that you can actually fit thru when crouching.

Catwalks???
Is that the rectangle option when Cycling through the ceilings?
Nokim Oct 28, 2019 @ 9:11am
https://ark.gamepedia.com/Wooden_Catwalk ( i think this comes from the atlas ceiling options)

you can cycle the position so that they are parallel to a ceiling rather than perpendicular.

another neat use for them is to put them parallel between, 2 walls high as a ledge to place fireplaces or bookshelves or storage boxes etc.

Cheers mate, I did see those but wasn't sure, so when i redo the ship, or when it's gets suck and I have to start over I give it go.

gotta put in the ceilings before the hull parts in the stern. If not you can build up then run half walls on the bottom of the ceiling parts to close it off.
