NPC Pirates Broken?
So been playing single player, testing for a server launch for friends, and ran into an issue. I have searched for DAYS looking for a solution with no luck.

So, the NPC pirate camps and ships are bugged. As in, immortal mostly. Certain pirate spawn inside buildings you can't break into (can't damage their blocks) and any on a gun of any sort (or ship wheel) can't be damaged. I have found no setting or way to fix this.

Am I just missing something? Any help at all would be nice.

Pirates mounted on guns are immune to ranged weapons, so you have to melee them off or hope that any pets you bring will knock them off. (elephants and giraffes would help a bit)

You will need to rely on mortars and explosive kegs to damage the buildings.

One major issue is that pirate camps can spawn multiple times on top of each other, so instead of having to destroy one wall you might have to get through several.

A ship cannon on a cargo saddle works quite well for opening up those buildings. Using a bear to haul it also providers a great offensive weapon against the pirates.

Oof, thanks tho. What about ships? My cannons do nearly nothing.

That's going to depend on what ship your using (basically how many cannons you're bringing to the party) and what type of ship/level the WPE ship(s) are.

Like anything else, if you're heavily out-leveled, then yeah, you're not going to do much.

Pirate ships work like player ships, so you needs to destroy the hull parts and sink them.
Once they start sinking, you will see the health bar starting to drop. However on two occasions, I noticed that they can be repaired, so you might have to keep hitting them until they are about to go down.

I have read about people encountering invincible ships but have yet to encounter any myself.
As for loot, all you will get is generic wood etc from dismantling any leftover planks and gun ports (cannons cannot be salvaged or dismantled).

I have never tried boarding a pirate ship but feel that it would be pointless at this stage of development.

i think wild pirate ships work as player ships not like SODS u need destroy planks to make em sink ,when u check pirate ship wchich got some shots by spyglass u see planks will be damaged.

yep i saw same they repair ,dunno if have unlimited ammo/resourcess ,probably yes.so you need some firepower,i took half of pirate ship healthbar but got out of ammo lol.Pirate camps are total pain they often have guns on high towers w/o any ladders ,so for those u need use grappling hook to kick em outa those towers.,or destroy tower with cannon/mortar.
Also i would say difficulty is screved i tried pirate camp lvl 1 and met guys with full plates lvl 20.....

A sword can help a lot. As they are immune to ranged attacks at these towers, you can jump up to them and need to hit them only once. They will leave their station then.

as for the pirate ships they do eventually sink, takes a while.

yep i know but last time i encountered balli8sta with guy on 4 story tower without any ladder or nothing and with ceiling 1 row from each side of tower walls so there was no way to get up to him even with grapple or climbing picks
