How to tame an elephant?
Tamed a lot of creatures already but the elephant seems to be the most broken creature to tame yet. There used to be a blindspot between the ears and the tusk but they nerfed it to the point where it'll say "E to feed" but it wont accept the food.

The new thing now is to be near the back legs going into the body but no matter what it still hits me, not even taming bulls' is this awful. Feels like they took everything thing they knew from ARK and just flushed it down the toilet, taming shouldn't be this complicated.

its not complicated at all. I have played atlas since day 1, when spawning meant floating in the middle of the ocean just do you can die and spawn in the clouds.

One thing that hasn't really changed is taming. its still very easy but hard for some to figure out.

yes the feed option seems to appear on other locations but there is only 1 feeding spot since day one. between the legs by the belly facing the head.more specifically close to the back knee but without touching the elephant itself.

I have tamed many of them since day one, past the big wipe and up to recently. it still works. while you figure out how to do it suggest try to make it easier for you and make sure the elephant falls on flat even ground. hills can hide it a bit. sometimes you may even need to be patient and feed in between its breeding cycle as the inhale causes the belly to go up and hide the feed spot.

made this a while ago.

I've watched and I can say for certain that there isn't a lot of information that is helpful, most people who've looked around have heard about sitting in that certain spot and it's still very complicated. There used to be a spot between the ears and the tusk you could sit and tame it but thanks to an amazing dev team they patched that.

You can still get hit, the elephant doesn't really have a blindspot, you kinda need to move in and out from the belly to the mouth to feed it. Best advice I've found was people saying to ditch the traps (5x5, ect) and just use bill boards or let it roam around.

Again, you'd think from a dev team that mad ARK would have a more flushed out and better taming system other than this cheap pokemon mechanics.

well traps is when you must but they tend to get in the way of feeding spots. for elephants there is not need because they are so slow.

I know other animals used to have a few more feeding options and got changed and honeslty they made sense. sort of off. i mean.. if you feed a bull from behind the horns..and you get...horned..wellll... same with the giraffe or elephant.
rhinos and elephants are belly feeders. sometimes you just have to watch for the breathing, especially on uneven ground. But they do have good spots.
I can and have tamed everything without getting hit.
ive lost count of how many elephants, rhinos and bears ive tamed.
i'm so used to it i can run up to the feeding spots.
but if you aren't used to it, just inch your way and you will get used to it.
i've had people in my groups with ur same issues and lucky for them i can teach them face to face and once i do they never have problems again.

Actually, I just found something out...
If you attack it using another mount or have a tribemate attack and bola it, the animal will hold aggro onto them and not you.

Just tamed an elephant with this trick. I remember several days ago when taming a bunch of bears if my boyfriend lowered their health and bola'd them I was able to feed them without an issue.

Wasn't sure if it was an actual thing so I figured it was a little hiccup with the game since these devs are known for bugs.

Correction, ORIGINALLY people could tame elephants through building pieces, ceilings even they were lolz easy to glitch feed so they nerfed its feed spot, a lot and they been one of the more difficult ones to feed now, Nokim has it right, it is easier to do without traps as long as you are in a safe local and know how to shoot and move or get to spots to shoot from each time. I have not tried using a mount but, seems that is the way to go with some of the more painful hitters, just keep them from hating on you in the first place.

bears are super easy, from behind right on top of the neck/shoulder but not quite at the head. I can probably tame 30 bears before i screw up and get bit.

cats are the same way the feed box is just a lil smaller.

don't get confused by their anger issues, its not agro related, they just get pissed sometimes. ive had lions and bears on full anger mode non stop biting away but never actually hitting me from being in the right feeding spot.
