Fix breeding!
Trying to breed bears, but it is weorse than having a baby in real life. You have to hand feed it every few minutes!!!. The food consumption is just insane. Have the devs even played the game?
The food counter goes down by the tens every frickin second! I tested and found that 3 stacks of hundred berries lasted about 50 minutes. I filled their inventory with berries, about 900 of them, and set my allarm to ring after two hours. Then I got some sleep. woke up after two hours to two dead cubs! (or actualy no cubs and a log saying the two cubs starved to death.) I meen com on! this i worse than a job. Do the devs realy think we should have to be at the keyboard from the cub is born until its fully grown? The food consumption rate seems to be totaly wrong to me.
I suspect it may be due to the health aways fluctuating as if it always gets hurt and have to heal. (and thats when the temperature is right mind you).

Use veggie and time your breeding when you can get them pass baby stage .

nothing wrong with breeding only your failure to be prepared.

Temperate zones are the best place to grow bear. and there are two kinds of temperate so figure out which one is best.
then you need crops, if you want to feed it wild plants you can but they aren't worth many feeding points. potatoes are best as they give high feed points and they last for freegin ever.
I grow bears in temperate no fires needed. they come out i give them potato i wait till about 4%, then i stuff them witha bout 300potatoes and leave them..outside inside, doesn't matter. I come back many hours later and they are fully grown. I don't bother to imprint because im trying to breed in stats which i just finished last night.
700hp, 1120weight, 154%melee, 1000stamina. lvl 51 bears. I'm pretty happy with that.

The Atlas devs have added some additional complications to breeding that I don't remember from Ark. Looks like it peaves many off who expected it to be like Ark. I think it's a good idea...it makes sence. Getting use to it might take some time. Plus they still need to tweak the variables.

what variables?, its pretty straight forward.

the zone you find them are zone you can breed them on but no necessarily the "best" place to breed them at.

you can find bears in artic and temperate you can breed them in either.
if you try to breed them in the tropics you get a message TELLING you that its the wrong biome. If its too cold or too hot you get icons to tell you so during the breeding and growing phase. just how much easier do you need it to be?

:) I don't remember having zones in Ark where breeding was better.... but I haven't really played it since it went out of ea. Variables.... adjustable numbers. How much it takes to feed, how long......those variables. Most are server settings but the default needs adjustment....then again for the base game those numbers are probably close to where they want them. Then it's just a matter of play style. Large groups it's not an issue. Small groups or solo players....it's an issue..... or is it? It is probably as intended. The game is designed around having large community of players.... can't argue with that.

What isn't intended is the lack of those messages showing up on your HUD. That seems to be an issue. Might be why I couldn't get something to work, and I know it's why my ship almost sunk when it was too heavy... 2 server restarts and the message finally appeared, and I was only about 2 units over the limit when I discovered how to check it. Might be what is causing more confusion than necessary.....the lack of those important messages displaying when triggered. When they do appear....they are hard to miss. Why aren't my monkey's breeding..... no message. Then again..... do I need a message...or just figure it out logically. If the answer is logical.....that's good gameplay. If not those messages are critical for the player.

Most of that had nothing to do with breeding. Don't use ark as your base for things. This not ark, same maker similar workings. But very NOT ark.

You can find feeding tips on patches or by googling it.
Breeding is simple. Plant eaters eat plants. Meat eaters eat meat.

Both kinds have types that are worth more points pst getting than others.

Crop>wild plants
Prime>regular meat.
Meat just sucks on timer.
All crops last considerably longer than wild. Potatoes last for eons before they rot and are best for breeding purposes because of that.
