Firearms versus bows (and crossbows)

Hello all, I am fairly new to the game and have 32 skill point available and unlocked archery. I am looking to expand in one area of these ranged weapons. However, which line is the best in terms of skill point investment versus output. I am looking for being able to better hunt treasures, so any weapon that deals well with the army of the dead is highly appreciated in the recommendation. Can anyone help me make up my mind which path to choose?

Also I noticed crossbows down the archery line (requires 26 skill points from me versus 28 for unlocking basic firearms), are these suitable to fight the treasure guards?

Firearms and gunpowder weapons do reduced damage to the soldiers of the damned now

I would not suggest using firearms but rather tames or melee weapons

So you would go with more armor (do not have the plate armor unlocked yet) and get swords??

I haven't tested bows against them but that might work longbow/crossbow and then armor and swords.

Well, I do know that the simple bow you unlock first is horrible against them. Arrows do not pierce their armor it seems. I had to resort to fist fights :(

Punching them does to more damage than bow. fact.

tiger + bear with nature buff will screw thos pesky SoDs
don't even need the melee weapon or armor

You can play single player and test everything yourself. Even try explosive barrels all you want.

An upgraded Two handed mace is fun.
