Best island with fresh water, good resources? (solo play)
Getting used to the game, now looking to move off the place I started, would like to have farmland so fresh water pond/lake would be great. Sitting at N6 atm.

If you're looking to stick in that area, there's freshwater on a couple islands in M8 and at least one island in N8.

I wouldn't recommend staying in the tropics though. Every type of seed we currently have will grow in temperate. https://atlas.gamepedia.com/Seeds

These two map tiles are examples of where I was looking to settle:

The big island in each of those has plentiful freshwater that you can pipe from and tons of resources for everything else. The coves are a little shallow, but I opted to deal with it. There's a bunch of other temperate tiles with one of those big islands if you look at the other A grid temperate tiles and the north-east temperate tiles.

Basically, if you find an island type that has freshwater, no matter where you find that same island type, it's almost certain to have freshwater. I've noticed that fresh water is a lot more common than they'd have you believe when you first start playing.

A12 looks like a really big island. Hmm if I kept going east would I hit a border or after the O grid would I end up going into A grid?

The map wraps like a globe, so yeah, going to the east border of O will zone into A.

Yeah, the islands like the one in A12 are huge. The ones like in K4, which is also in A11, are a little smaller. I ended up settling on that smaller type, but up in A5.

Finally found what looked to be maize.....it was silk. Finally found what looked like aloe..... It was berries.

This part of the game was created by idiots. 2 year olds who have very little capacity to think.

I gave up on much of the bad dev stuff and just spawn it in. If it's so poorly developed...I'm not going to waste the effort when an apple may be an orange. Just glad much of the other stuff is close to brilliant.......

Checked A5 I didn't see any fresh water in there, what isle was it?

A12 has several inland water spots in fact that is one of my fav islands :) Its huge.
N12 Eastern Temp has a larger island with a large lake on it.

H13 is a High Desert freeport grid, the islands there have Maze and beats growing out back of the freeport buidings. and a hidden goodie on them as well.

The big one, Millercona Chain. There's a couple decent sized ponds up in the hills. Surprised you didn't find it. If you're at the cove, with your back to the entrance/statue,you'll see two distinct paths leading away into the hills. take the left one, which goes under the big arch. Keep following that pretty much straight, and you'll run into the big pond, it has one creek flowing in and two flowing out, plus a little dock. Following the creek that flows in will lead to the second pond further up hill. The two that flow out eventually drop through a series of falls into the ocean on the opposite side of the island from the cove; so if you're on that side you can back track either of those.

Hmm rechecking now, some of these islands have brutal lag with all the trees lol

OK found it, island is a little laggy but I might just settle there

I settled in tropics. Mainly because you can breed both bears and horses and few other things in tropics. I have an outpost in M8 for taming elefants and growing few things that do not grow in tropics, and I soon will have an outpost in low desert to breed giraffes rhinos ostriches and whatnot. That should pretty much cover it. I do not think anyone can achieve everything in this game with just one base, you will need outposts.

Yeah, I have taken to having an out post in every biome.. just makes it easier.. as well have a ship at each biome , mostly just speedy schooners to island hop around the area in. Xept in the cold north, have something I can whale hunt with up there.

Is it worth going to the tundra for ice to preserve food? I haven't had alot of luck with salt
Liatni Aug 14, 2019 @ 7:47pm
Ice/icebox is multi use, IF you plan on doing breeding .. turning on an icebox to cool the room down is sometimes the only way to cool a baby down thats too hot. Salt, I think bugs out, I mean I put 50 in bag.. log out and log in a few hours later and its always reset to 1 in the bag. Dont know about ice, not started using it alot yet on sp.. but, it is worth it if you are going heavy on teh food stuff.
