building my schooner and need deck advice
article i am reading says to place the top deck first, making one of the ceiling tiles into a hatch. then make a ladder to go down and then place the lower deck, presumably after going down that ladder. it does appear that the game will only let me place the top deck at this time. this is correct? cuz it seems backward to me.

Schooner has two decks, bottom deck that is complete and filled after placing it to the ship frame, and a top deck that has only small areas in the front and back filled and sides are thin strips, the middle part of the top deck you have to fill yourself with ceilings. Remember to leave a hole for stairs to get to the lower deck. When placing the decks you can alter which snap point the deck snaps by pressing Q.

Go ahead and place all decks. Build ramps/stairs after.

this time when i tried, it snapped to the bottom, but the first time it wanted to snap to the top. so i tried to do the top and i was missing a deck.. i def made 2. so i made another deck, the correct size, and now it is telling me there is no snap pt for it. could be a glitch so i am relogging back in to see if the top deck appears, but how could i have laid down the lower deck if the top was in place.

relogging in didnt fix it. no top deck and cannot snap the one i have in there. anyone have any ideas??? oooo maybe i need to use ceilings for that. but why did the article say i needed 2 deck??? where is that other one going?

Did you accidentally craft the wrong size deck, maybe?
DaroCerise Jul 14, 2019 @ 1:46pm
no i crafted 2 med decks to start. i rechecked and i crafted another med deck to replace the med one that got eaten in some manner

When you relogged did you just exit to the menu and go back in or completely exit the game? I had something buggy 'stick' after just exiting to the menu, but cleared after completely exiting and restarting.

completely i do believe. i will do it again just to be sure. there can't be a deck on top cuz it appears that i will be able to put down ceilings. if the deck was there but not showing, i would think it would not allow the snap

tyty. i do see the open area at the bow, figured it came with the original frame. so my deck did go on :) just didnt look like...... a deck. i think i will put in a ramp as i have a bull, cow, and 4 pigs that need to get loaded in down there. i will be able to bring them back up the ramp, right? i can carry the smaller animals up.

Problem with the schooner is that if you fill the upper deck with ceilings and bring bulls and cows below they usually get stuck on the ceilings. You are still able to get them out of the ship by making them on follow, but you are not able to move them around when they are on the ship, and you cant ride your bull. But then you really don't need to put them below the deck, they are just fine on top too. Of course you can build your deck to be two walls high, then there is room inside for all your animals - until you get your first elephant. :)

well i do have a bull. i thought about where he was gonna go so i hope it works out. just need to place my wheel and i am done. i can make another deck by adding 14 more planks on top of the ones already there?

@Cerise here is an image of how I set up my schooner just so you can get a visual at what can be done. Not saying this is the only way or even the best but it worked for me. I moved all of my tames in this set up from M8 for elephant to M4 then over to J4 for the giraffe and then back to M4 and up to M3 where the image was taken. I did have another Lion and Bear at the bow but both died before taking the picture.

LOL yeah i can see that. i could get my tiger under but the pigs and cattle had to stay topside. the birds couldnt go under either as they want to fly for follow. sigh, my monkey was just killed and i dont know why. topside on the ship.

Yeah their hit boxes seem to be just slightly above one wall tall so they can't move or go into areas that are only one wall high. If you stop the birds from following they should land on your boat even when you are below deck with them. As for the monkey could of starved or if you crossed a boarder there is a chance it will disappear. There seems to be a bug for shoulder pets when crossing boarders while they are on your shoulder, so its best to remove them off shoulder while sailing across the grids. They know about that bug and have stated they are working on it, so hopefully it will be added in this update.
