how to move a floor?

i go to place and i see arrows that indicate it can be moved up or down or left or right but i can't figure out which keys to use for that. i tried the arrow keys, +/-, pg up/dn but they dont do the job. similar problem with placing the ship planks.

Q for different snap point, T to cycle through types

Those arrows don't indicate that you can move the piece, they only indicate orientation of the piece; X, Y, Z axis direction.

As stated above, Q will cycle through snap points. For many pieces, E can also be used to change orientation.

tyty. i discovered my first problem? i needed to craft a frame for the ship :/

Oh yes, ships need frames for all those bits to attach to.
