How do you remove paint?

As the title suggests, how can I revert something that I have painted back to its default color?

And make sure to use the soap on the painted item and not eat it. :P

If the structure has been placed and painted, just have soap in your inventory, access the painted structure's pinwheel (hold E), and you'll see the option to remove paint.

The soap was taking forever so I asked in game if there was a better way and someone suggested white paint. It works perfectly and simply removes the existing paint. Problem is, how do you paint something white if white paint just behaves like bleach? Is this working as intended?
