ATLAS
Would i get better fps on an HDD?
Asking since i have Atlas on an external drive. I have been getting 30 fps over the last 30 mins or so (first time playing). Im playing at 720p. I should be getting no stutter since its always arround 35-40 fps (bearable since my pc is dated). Any ideas?

You won't know until you try it, really. Internal SATA3 is faster under testing conditions than USB3 but there are all kinds of reasons why one or the other may have a slower-than-expected data transfer rate, and you are mostly limited by the drive itself rather than the connection speed. If the external drive is less efficient, then the internal drive may provide a few extra frames when loading terrain and other game data. If the bottleneck is in your processor or GPU, you probably won't notice much of an improvement, if any.

If downloading all that data is an issue, you can actually create a Steam apps folder on the HDD through the client (if you don't already have one on there) and make a copy of the Atlas folder there, then uninstall Atlas (which will remove the old one), and do a re-install pointing it to the new Steam folder path when it asks for an install location. It should then locate the files you just copied instead of downloading the whole thing. It might download a bit, but it shouldn't be anywhere close to the original download size.

M.2 would be your best, SSD second best, If your running on a HDD then uninstall the game and refund it. You don't play Atlas or ARK on anything but and SSD or M.2

i dont have an M 2 nor an SSD. I have been running Ark just fine. You are not answering the question here. What im asking is if i will be getting better fps on an hdd instead of an external one.
Nope, Not really, An External even under usb 2.0 is still WAY faster then what a HDD can actually even run so you won't see any difference, I'd suggest investing in a 500 Gig ssd for less than 50 bucks.

in my country even the 500 ssds cost insane ammounts. at least for my budget. I cant afford any type of update. Im just trying to reduce the stutter
Welp good luck man, You picked the wrong game to play :/
