whats the best ship for taking of fleets of the damned in SP
i heard schooners get destroyed by the fleet unless they are mythical and galleons are not manuverable and have bad handling especially for one person. i am leaning towards brigatine but whats the expert opinion on it?

I've taken down fleets with a brig easily. Anything higher than lvl 20 you might want galleon, they arent as manuverable but they are a bit more tanky and you can have way more cannons/ammo on board

The brig boards seem to have the same health as the schooner boards, does it take less damage or will the sotd fleet of ships blow holes in it just as fast as they would a schooner?

Brig is easily the best if you know how to maneuver.

Brig is best with full 12 port cannons and then put 6-7 cannons on top of a row of wall/wood ceiling on either left or right side of top deck!

13 cannon volleys can 1 or 2 shot most sod of certain levels.

Oh and high resistance helps on ship!

I prefer galleon the best for fast traveling/taming runs/harvest runs.

but for sod killing brig is best, schooner can do the job the only problem with schooner is you get short on weight fast.

I run brigs with 1 speed 2 handling sails, 12-14 rear cannon set up, 4 ballistas to kill any whales. and with 1100cannon balls i can out run, out maneuver and sink several lvl 60 ships rather easy, at the same time if i need to. doesn't even matter if the sods are galleon, brig or whatever.

would 5 extra cannons on both sides top deck work? also how much resistance should i level among what other things should also be leveled? how should i manuver the ship and
btw sry if i am asking to mamny question, havent played since the month after the game released and i came back because of SP (i can pause the game, not worry about logging off, getting wiped by devs, and it less tedious of a grind) and i want to know what i should do to deal with these new fleets without the trial and error process of getting sunk over and over.

Man just experiment a bit. I've seen sloop builds that can do sotd. It's a bit more harrowing but a skilled capt. Can do it. Everything has tradeoffs. Personally i enjoyed my schoon for sotd since it maneuvered quickly, could spin and broadside easy. Just poke about and level it as you see it needs it. It's diff for every person, every build, and every ship.

Yes, ballista can be controlled by NPC. I set each ballista to group 5 so I can turn them on an off. No need to fire them at SotD. When at the wheel, press 5 to turn the ballista on or off before targeting a whale or SotD.

Blue whale are neutral in the tundra biome until you shoot at them. Once you do they become aggressive and if they hit your ship the damage is extensive and can even destroy stuff in your ship like the food larder.

Sperm whales are always aggressive but are only in the polar biome. They are fairly fast, so don't go there if you ship is heavily loaded and not fast.
