Ship blows up out of dry dock

Hey guys, I just started playing today, and spent about 6 hours solo grinding to build a schooner, just to watch it flip out and blow up as soon as I released it from the dry dock... Not gonna lie, was pretty devastating. How can I avoid this kind of bug again? I am wondering whether my dry dock might have been too close to the shore or something, but if that isn't the case, I definitely don't want to waste my time investing just to watch a bug destroy all of my hard work :/

it will be a combination of bug and being to close to the shore, i had a similar case with a brig were i sailed it to close and it started doing barrel rolls through the air, i imagine for you as the ship dropped from the scaffold it hit the bottom and triggered the bug.

you need deeper water, if the water is to shallow the ships explode on release. Is a known "feature".

A sloop could perfectly be dropped in the water probably, but the schooner needs deeper water.

When doing the Shipyard make sure you are IN Deep water .. as far out as it can go before turning orange or red .. even if you have to build a walk way to it.
And make sure you are not block by a sandbar or rocks .. it can happen.

My first build _ I had deep water at build point (but could not get out because of a sandbar was just in front of me that I did not see when setting shipyard.) my bad .. lesson learned

How close to shore means little, how deep the water is means a lot.

Well dang, that's what I thought. Thanks guys. Let me know if any of you want a crewmate since I lost most of my stuff on that ship haha. Otherwise I guess it's back to building :/

The only reason I knew not to plop a ship yard down in too shallow of water is because, I already saw others do it and what happens when you do, as well, sailing in and hitting a rock thats under there :P so was prepared in advance, not lost a single ship yet in game to game mechanics, including sotd, whales and storms or decay. .. A few from ship to ship combat though. :)
