This experience from a game dev is new to me
The game runs smoothly at 30 FPS and it's not a problem in this kind of game because 99 % of time you stay without moving...so 60 FPS or more is just useless.
They simply dont wont to invest in a new engine who can support more fps( even unity engine is able to do that nowadays )
And smooth 30 fps is very very very much impossible , even if the 30 fps is super stable than you can easily feel and see the difference with 120 fps. ( is a fact )
Especially with moving scenes or panning the screen.
And for example fishing planet does support more fps and the gameplay is fun and enjoyable , i treid the old dovetail fishing game and hell what a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dia show was that, uninstall after the tutotial.
So dont defend 30 fps lock it is not of 2018 more like 1990 or so.
Some games work just fine at 30fps. I just finished one of the best games I have EVER played and it was locked at 30fps. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
BTW, If you have a family, sometimes you are always left playing on the machine that nobody else wants and you are just going to be stuck with chugging fps's. I remember that when I first purchased EuroFishing that the machine I was playing it on could barely manage 20fps. lol And honestly, it didn't bother me.
I noted in your OP that you refer to our other games such as Train Simulator and Train Sim World. Neither of these games have a frame rate lock of 30fps.
Why does this game have it?
Physics is an answer but nowadays you can do this differently so dont have to lock the fps.
I have a 1080 ti and a 144 hz monitor
30 fps is just an insult to my rig
Why would we be sorry for holding ourself to a high standard? (hell, even calling 60fps a "high" standard these days is absurd)
Ha, yea i remember in old school call of duty games if you unlocked your fps to 200+ the physics and movement would go nuts. We even called the devs idiots for tie-ing their physics to FPS back in 2004. It's 2018 now.
There is no "smooth" and "stuttery" 30fps, 30fps is just what it says, 30 frames per second. If your eyes cannot differ between 30-60-120-144 fps, thats fine. But don't go sprouting nonsense to ruin the experience for the people that can.
There is no negative to you if we get a higher frame-cap, there is only positive. So why on earth would you defend 30fps?
Thankfully there is a report post function and i can just wait for a mod to remove yours :).
It's very simple: Don't misrepresent what somneone says then get your feelings hurt when they call out that you are wrong.
Wrong?
I think your argument is stupid. There are no 3d games that "work" fine at 30fps, only people that don't know any better. The amount of frames per second that i see on my screen has very little to do with the type of game that i am playing. 3D games (or fast 2d ones) feel and look terrible at 30FPS, especially when you are used to higher frame rates. Besides the fact that at low FPS mouse movement (if you have a high quality tracking mouse) feels terrible. Just the visuals alone of moving my camera around at 30fps looks bad.
I'm guessing, that you are assuming that some games "works fine" at 30 fps because you have never played at higher frame rates, hence never adapted to high FPS.
Don't change the subject.
You quated this:

No where did I suggest that he should be sorry for wanting more the 30fps.
Like I said you misrepresented what I said.
Your comment suggests that he should be sorry for his sensitivity. I'd say you "misrepresented" your comment, by saying what you did.
I'm not going to further explain what I said since it is there for you to read again.
Maybe read it again after your reading comprehension improves.
