2 Hour Review
In case anyone is interested.

Did not play Eurofishing. Have played Fishing Planet, which I despised, and Russian Fishing 4, which I liked, so will compare to that.

Lake Johnson
Baitcaster (purchased)
Roach Swimbait (pruchased)
20lb Flourocarbon (purchased)

Have not used anything else yet since it was working and I'm still getting used to it.

Casting: Casting was/is a bit frustrating to me. It is a manual pull mouse and release cast, with inverted mouse. So you pull down, then drag up and release at 12 oclock. Not a big fan of it.

2.5/5

Reeling: Each Lure type has different more effective reel types and speeds. Using the one I specified for example, Stop And Go and Constant Slow is the most effective. I know this because it actually says what kind of reel you are doing. When the text lights red, it's bad. When it's green, it's good. Brighter the green, the better. I'm on the fence about this, as it takes away some "skill" aspect.

3/5

Striking: To strike, you again use the inverted mouse to pull, preferably in the opposite direction the fish is going. Your timing and angle will tell you what kind of strike/how good the hook was set. Again, on this fence about this. So far I have only lost one fish, but sure not it was because of the hook set. It may have got caught on the dock. Sometimes it seems to lag, or have some kind of loose line for some reason and you have to repeatedly yank that mofo.

2.5/5

Fighting: Fighting is pretty basic. Keep drag as high as you can while reeling, until it starts flashing, then lower drag and let fish run for a second, repeating until the fish tires. The fights do not take long. The longest fight I've had is around 30 seconds for a 14lb Largemouth. If you have played RF4, you know what a contrast this is. (you can spend 1-2 hrs on one fish in RF4)

3/5

Lake: The largest most disappointing aspect to the game (or lake) to me so far is found here. There is this large lake, with all of this shoreline, but you cannot walk around and choose a spot. You can take the boat, and fish from it, but you cannot get off the boat. To me this is an extreme waste of space and freedom, and not what I was expecting. Especially since there are islands. I would love to get off on the island, throw out 3 rods and chill.

Beyond that aspect, it is decent looking and quite large. (again from an RF4 comparison)
If boat fishing is your thing, there's plenty of space. It is not mine, so I fished from the dock, which is the only shore fishing allowed.

2/5 But mostkly skewed from personal taste of my first statement.

Online Multiplayer: PC has up to 8 people in a "party" that you can create or join into. There is a voice chat, which I found quite annoying as people were using open mics, belching and TV on blast. I could not find a way to mute them.

Fishing: I fished mostly one spot as the fish were biting decently. A middle ground spot between deep and shoreline/reeds. Mostly Largemouth Bass, with some Pickeral and a few Perch. Largest Bass was 14LB. Largest Perch 1LB. A total of 140LB's of fish in my first 2 hours.

The dock can be VERY frustrating, as the fish can swim to the far other side of the dock, and you are unable to reel it in, despite having a net icon. I havent been able to find a "net" key to see if this helps, and you cannot move while reeling which is again, VERY frustrating, especially in this situation.

Overall: I'm on middle ground so far. I'm not hating it, but I'm not loving it. Tackle seems somewhat limited and not very in depth. It is early, so I'm not putting too much stock into that. The controls are clunky to me, but others may find it okay, especially with a controller if that's even possible. It is rather easy-mode compared to RF4, which is a turn-off for me. So far seems to be higher on the luck and lower on the skill/knowledge. But again, it's still early for me.

On the bright side, I have not crashed nor ran into any game-breaking issues. No lag, except for some odd stuff on strikes once in a while.

If you are a fishing game nut, you will likely find it enjoyable enough. If you are on the fence, I would wait a while and watch some live streams before diving in.

Don't know if this will help anyone decide, as it's not much and purely personal, but if it does - cool. The price is steep and the company seemingly somewhat lacking, so it's understandable if you are on the fence.

Tight lines.

Good overview :).

You can switch from total cast control to the other one (I forget the name), which I think is more tradional if you like. Oddly I am finding total cast control here to be smoother and better than Euro Fishing's, perhaps they refined it.

In Euro Fishing you used to have to hit the E key for the net, but it was pretty much automated and kind of clunky. During the earlier period it was much harder as you had manual control over it...Anyway, the one fish I caught simply automatically got cuaght. I didn't have to do anything.

Great snapshot mate. Helps me in my 2 hour decision process.

I played for about an hour and yeah, the inverted mouse control is really annoying especially since there isn't an option to turn it off. There also isn't an option for configuring mouse sensitivity which is also annoying. On top of that, the horizontal and vertical sensitivities are different, the vertical being much higher than the horizontal throws me off. But aside from these things I could get into the game if there were more control configurations.
ask for a refund, stop playing fishing games, you are wasting time on your devellopeurs and players

How bout you do you and I'll do me. Despite it's flaws, I plan on playing it a decent amount. I put 700 hours into RF4, I'll put at least 100 into this.

Quite the contrary, he gave me the player a good insight on the state of the game. Also the developer could give his feedback a look.
OP - thanks for writing this, ignore the trolls.

Here's my take on it. It's fair as well. It is completely unbaised and constructive. I went on this rant after playing 2 hours of it.

Thank you for your inital thoughts on Fishing Sim World iConstantine. We appreciate the detail you have put into this review. We sent it to our development team so that they can also have a look over it.

Just addressing a couple of points you have raised.
"Casting was/is a bit frustrating to me. It is a manual pull mouse and release cast, with inverted mouse. So you pull down, then drag up and release at 12 oclock. Not a big fan of it."
Did you try Basic Cast Control as well? In this setting you power up your cast which will dictate how far the bait/lure is cast.

"When the text lights red, it's bad. When it's green, it's good. Brighter the green, the better. I'm on the fence about this, as it takes away some "skill" aspect."
We have thought about adding an option that removes these HUD elements to make it more challenging.

"There is a voice chat, which I found quite annoying as people were using open mics, belching and TV on blast. I could not find a way to mute them."
At the moment there isn't an option to mute them unfortunately but we've made the development team aware that this is something you want to be changed.

Thank you for your thoughts on the game so far Fishstickles. We appreciate the constructive feedback and it will be passed on to the developers so that they can look at the changes you would like to see made.

You can switch between rods while you have a fish on the line using the number keys but I will make the suggestion to give the option to put the rod down without doing this.

In future we will be looking to allow you to move and cast from different parts of the boat.

Could you explain a little more what you meant about the PC control scheme?

So as always you ignore the real bugs and discuss humble opinions on features which work just fine ..

Looks like players seem to struggle playing the game with the mouse , i use a xbox joypad and i can do everything with ease except the advanced casting it gets a bit annoying until you master it maybe needs a slight tweak from the devs :-)
I have gone back to basic casting the easier option its far better :-)

The ability to mute the mics is a must have it maybe easier to do on a console but really annoying to hear players swearing and breaking wind through your speakers lol

Beyond me how a no mute open mic coding could even make it into the game in 2018.

As of now, despite paying the steep price, I have no plans of playing the game anymore. The more I played, the more it felt like a scam. The tagline of "the most realistic fishing game" is a complete to the face lie. I doubt it matters and I doubt yall care, but in that off chance, I'll throw up a why.

1. The game feels like you received sponsorship for items and decided to build a crappy game around it to profit.

The gear has no depth whatsoever. I feel no urge to try any others as they provide nothing to me.

The lures, despite the tagline and sponsorships, are completely unrealistic. You add frogs but don't even bother adding the correct way to use them? If I tried the given techniques with frogs IRL, the Bass would evolve legs, walk out of the lake and slap me for being an idiot.

2. The fish are all but meaningless. Every fish is the same until you see the model. None of the fish fight like the real life fish. It's quite obvious nobody on the team has done bass fishing.

I feel no sense of accomplishment, pride or surprise. I don't need to learn fishing spots, baits, patterns, weather/temp changes. I drop a line 4ft off the dock and bam, I have a carp.

The caught fish seem pointless. I can't sell them, can't keep them. Can't turn them into bait fish, can't do a quest. The fish simply disappears from existence. There's no leaderboard, so I can't even brag about having the largest one of that species, nor compete to get there. And even if there was, it's fully RNG. I'm not going to find a better bait, or gear, or spot, or weather pattern that provides a better chance at a larger fish.

3. Zero sense of progression. There are levels that provide absolutely nothing. Why are they even there? To showcase how much I play?

There's no lakes to unlock. No gear to work towards that would give me an advantage for something.

4. There's no community. I can join a random lake with a couple random ppl. Great. What about the other 2000 people? I can't talk to them. I can't discuss strategies, hot spots - assuming those even existed in the game.

5. There is this foreboding black cloud feeling of DLC. Like I paid $45 for a barebones game, and anything that is fixed/added will be DLC I have to pay more for. There's no communication from anyone, no roadmap.

Fishing should be a fun, ever changing, community driven experience. There should be secrets to find, secrets to share or keep. There should be patterns to notice, things to learn. There should be competition beyond RNG weight per hour. Weekly records for each species, season records. Hot baits, cold baits, hot spots, cold spots. Rewards for rare fish, announcements for rare or large fish. ANYTHING to look forward to when I load the game. Right now it feels like a pre-alpha arcade game that has been fully released.

Dozens of other things but this is probably approaching tl;dr as it is.

I have little to no hope, and have informed my community to wait for the next fishing game to come out. And as I already paid, I doubt anyone on that side cares, going by provided company history.

That said, I really hope I am wrong. The possiblities are there for the game. Thank you for replying to some of what I said. That was more than I ever expected and provided just a tinge of hope.
