Yes, I saw this too and was baffled by how great the game looks but how ridiculous the fish AI and fish fighting is. The update only seems to have added a few more fish and some t-shirts while making the unrealistic fish fights longer in duration and not even touching the AI.

Walleye is a zander species, and as all zander specie, they prefer night and cloudly weatherand live at the bottom, only catchable with shad and all lure that sink to the bottom.
when you fight them, they dont rush the surface, they try to stay deep water, like catfishs

The devs: "OK, we've noted that. Be sure to stay tuned for our next update in which we'll have a new t-shirt for your character."

[FR] chey - Clearly you don't know an American Walleye while I agree that they tend to stay in deeper water that's not always the case. I live in the land of 10,000 lakes of Minnesota, USA and I know how plenty of fish react and what it takes to catch them. Only catchable on shad and all lure that sink to the bottom is completely laughable. This is still a work in progress game, we wanted more US fish and we got it and now we need more US lakes but AI and the way they Fight will take some time I think.

This^^ I used to catch them in Minnesota to on a big crank bait that was red and white that only dove maybe 5 feet. It was my go to lure for them. SKOL VIKINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SKOL...

I think us Minnesotans know the Walleye pretty good since it is the state fish and everybody fishes for them.

I fish the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania often. Although there are times of the year when Walleye tend to find deeper water, but the Susquehanna is notorious for being a shallow river, and you will sometimes catch Walleye in waters that are only around 3 feet deep. I've caught them on tubes, cranks, swimbaits, NED rigs. Although Walleye don't get all that big in the Susquehanna for the most part, they are plentiful and not always deep water fish.

I live in Michigan. On the st Clair river we jig for walleyes on the bottom but I’ve caught a walleye on a crank bait in the day time, in about 10 feet of water. Sure it’s more effective to catch them at night but it’s not the only time you can catch them

I have seen the size of big walleye on utube and the way they are caught. I believe that we have to remember that it is a game and not real life situations. I love the game and I keep learning knew tricks from my fellow fisherman.

I agree the Walleye AI is way off. I'll go to the lillypad channels at Lake Boulder where it's shallow and alot of cover.. Perfect place for Predatory fish like Bass and Musky to hang out and ambush their prey. Instead of it being a great place for Bass, I'll catch more Walleye than anything in that area. Like the the OP brought up, the Walleye are hitting top water lures, Walleye generally prefer deeper/cooler water, why are they in the shallow water hitting topwater lures?.. In this game they just hang out where ever, doesn't matter the water depth, water temperature, type of cover.. This goes for all fish really, they are just randomly dispersed through out the lakes with no real reasoning for them to hang out in certain areas. If I'm targeting Bass in ideal bass areas, especially in tournaments it gets kind of annoying that Walleye are more plentiful in those areas than bass.
