Not sure what lake Barbel live in. Any help for this old man would be appreciated.

They are in the Grand Union Canal, Waldsee & Lago Del Mundo.

Try Grand Union, I had no problem getting one there on small corn.

What hook were you using Azure ? I can never get one at Grand Union , I only find them at Mundo

Sorry to jump in , but I have had most luck with size 10/12 and Bloodworm at Grand Union for the Barbel there.

Although, on a recent stream the Devs recommended size 6 hooks and 15mm boilies, but all I catch is Carp when I use that tackle.

Casters are the magic bait for me. #12/ Casters at Grand Union, Under the End Bridge. #10/Casters Lago Del Mundo, at Northers Pegs near outlet. No luck at Waldsee yet ..

Waldsee is very broken. Has been for a while. You very rarely catch anything else than carp and catfish there. Even lure fishing for predators is broken there and very dead.
