As for their weapons, just crafted purple beams everywhere.
I'm saving up for the Zeus, I have almost everything. It looks like a lot of fun. I have a lot of expert gunners lined up to fill all of those gunner spots so I'm looking forward to it!
It looks great, since it actually looks like something that could fly in atmosphere. It has my favorite weapon hardpoint layout. You have a 3 forward hardpoints, with a fixed center bracketed by two slightly off-center mounts on small gimbals. Then you have 3 different 180-degree turrets covering port, starboard, and your flank. On top all of that, you have a final 360-degree turret sitting between those other turrets. All of the turrets are size-4, so it has the cool factor of the HMS Dreadnought, being an 'all big guns' setup.
My biggest gripe is just how relatively out-classed it is by the more recent blue-tier Independent ships that have been added over the last few updates; stuff like the Wizard and Prometheus. The ship is just a basic white rarity, AND it lacks any sort of class bonus. So no camouflage from Ranger, or bonus armor from Battleship, or bonus projectile speed from Gunship, or (the most ideal pick given the layout) the +20% Large Weapon Damage from Destroyer.
Now that Laious has implemented ship blueprints. If he ever lets us modify those? Gives us some way to either research, acquire, and otherwise build BETTER versions of ships you could otherwise buy? I'd love it. The Claymore is great, but could really use some love instead of being left to wallow as a basic type-less white tier only design.
Another +1 to allow us to repurpose hangar space for drone usage.
As for favorite ships, the Lacewing of course, the Dragon, Warlock and Isilo are good fun too. The V2 and Reaper aren't to be discounted either, both are highly capable.
My first favorite ship in the game was the Claymore. Then the Hades. Hephaestus is a solid third. Titan and Prometheus are solid choices for dreadnoughts. The Beetle and Wizard are two favorite frigates, along with the Shark. I tend to favor larger ships, either of the ranger class or carriers.
One thing to note on white ships like the Juggernaut, Claymore, Beetle and such is that they tend to have those epic 360 degree turrets. Including 4 space versions on the cruisers, which count as large weapons for the perfect predator perk and the destroyer damage bonus.
Okay, okay, okay. Hear me out. Claymore MkII. Or hell, name it after another large sword, like the 'Flamberge', 'Zweihander', or 'Odachi' if you're feeling spicy. Now it's a dreadnought class Interceptor, with 8 speed and 6 agility (slower than the cruiser, but still would be the fastest in class just like the cruiser). Make the HP/Equipment whatever is needed to balance that. Keep the same look and hard-point setup (maybe make the turrets multi-barrel), but with a larger crew and cargo space. Hell, reuse the same 3D model, just scale it up and maybe give it a different paint job (like the Valor series or Razor & Venom).
I think my favorite generalist ship though is the new Geraki. Has just about everything you could need to really specialize however you want; enough equipment space to do decent drones, enough weapon space for decent weapons, ideal ship size to make use of large equipment and low enough mass to only need minimal amounts of it while still reaching crazy speeds.
