ending the tutorial

how does one know when the tutorial is over so one can start the technomancer story line...?

It ends when you get the new ship from the faction of your choice: independent, miners, traders or pirates.
After that, the new quest chain starts

how do you start the story quest...? i usually start the game with the archimedes...would that throw off the story line...?

the storyline has never started in any of my play through's except for the one i just started as an outis...

I had a run where the the quest line didn't start either.

so i am confused, how is it again that i get the tinhead quest started again...i started as outis, went through the storyline and did not get any tinhead quest that i am aware of....?

When you start a game you can choose to skip the tutorial and if you choose a background, ship, or copilot you choose to skip it. Then, even if you skip the tutorial, you still have the quest chain that can lead to Swashbuckler and either Lone Wolf or Scoundrel.

If you chose not to do the tutorial missions you have to pick 'Outis' as background perk.
That's the requirement.

Ya, forgot to mention that part. As that's how you use to get Lone Wolf anyway, and it's an independent quest chain. So, probably, shoulda remembered to mention it. Thanks for clarifying for everyone else.
