Missing names
Names on items floating in space disappear after a short period. Is this a button I have pressed or something else?

Sounds weird to me. Are you not just picking them up and deleting them (lootfilter)?

If the item is outside your 'Loot detection range' it won't display the name. Maybe that's it?

I just noticed the same - i think. Noticed a box floating in space - but no name, even sitting right beside it - didn't know it was Junk till I picked it up.

Oh yeah in that case, there is a BUG which hides the name the first time you get in a sector.
