What's the best Tier list for Dreadnought or Cruiser
I'm sort of a noob to this game i just got it recently and only got a few hours in but i did make enough money in the game and play it enough to get the Dominance Miner Dreadnought, but i'm not sure if that's the best one because there are a lot of mixed views on which ship is the best? e.g. most people say Hephaestus is best cruiser but then i see some people say Empress is better, and with dreadnoughts same thing some people say Dominance others say not, i'm past the point in my current game to get anything under these classes of ships yet i'm still unsure of what to go for particularly.

So i'd like to request if anyone is reading this post to make a tier list of what good ships there are to get instead of just being told to "Get Good" ... so can anyone please tell me your top picks for best ship (preferably the classes mentioned but if you really want also the smaller classes too) to go for so i could try them out too? p.s. builds can be included in this list as i'm new and not that great at builds yet either but i'm quite interested.

dread = zeus, no shields, only hull/armor + repair system. this leaves enough gear space for more reactors, which in turn lets you perma use the built in stealth system as a "panic button". the hull you can get with enough +hull crew and heavy venghi armor is also pretty nuts. so no, you wont die instantly =). venghi 4x3000 hull = 12000 base hull, multiplied by 3 engis (lvl 60 space pilot) with +hull specialist, about 3x15% = 45% at least = 17400, then add 1-2 superior hull platings and the least hull you get is 20000 and 480 repair per second. this is the minimum for legendary crew. and you also could add a first officer with +hull as well. and dont forget the skilltree´s +hull and crew stuff.

cruiser = achilles, for the same reason... you choose the fights. you do your thing and an attack gold star squad warps in? hit stealth and show them the middle finger. =P

hephaestos is good only if you can stand the pain it does on your rear end with aiming those side batteries...

smaller ships = depends... as they wont get enough energy for the stealth without droping other stuff.

weapons... i´d say crafted beams... as it makes crew miss less. shorter range and dmg, but what does double/triple the dmg do you good if your gunners miss half the shots? exactly, its the same dps... shorter range? doesnt matter for dreads, as you´re probably the slowest dog on the field anyway. for cruisers... well... depends, although faster flying also means more misses (even with stabilizer).

Ok, side question if i join up with the humans and get Zeus Ship can i rejoin Venghi afterwards? also the reason why is because i was a bit too fast to join the COT and didn't take my time and get all the Venghi Tech/Weapons/Ships that i could have before i joined COT. also i got the Hephaestus as a cruiser in my fleet now but could i get another Cruiser like the Achilles (also where do you get it i can't find it anywhere all i find all the time is Claymore's) in my fleet without it costing too much fleet points That i won't be able to have any other group of smaller ships, p.s. i am pretty high up in fleet skill now like 41 but i should be able to max it out soon as i keep playing.

No, once you have the CoT background, which is required to get the Zeus, you are permanently locked out of joining the Venghi. Note that you can get venghi equipment/weapons as drops from the venghi, and (all but their dread) can be found as derelicts. The Achilles is a CoT ship, so it can only be found at CoT stations (and not every one of their stations will sell it). Cruisers take up a lot of fleet space, but you can get the equivalent of 4 cruisers in your fleet, so 2 will still leave a bit of room for other ships.

Thx for explaining, looks like i have to scavenge All the Venghi tech/weapons and hope i get lucky in finding Their derelict Ships.
Also wanted to ask Whats the Venghi Dread Like Compared to the Zeus because i Will Probably make a second playthrough and join the pirates and Venghi in that one for a different experience, also can you get the Venghi Death Ray as a weapon that you can put on ships or is it a Ship Specific weapon, i have been hit a few times with that weapon and wondered if i could have it and put it on one of my ships because it looks pretty good as a weapon.

The venghi dread has smaller weapon mounts, but it's co-pilot can stack gunner bonuses on top of all the normal gunners. It doesn't have other crew slots, so it loses out on utility purposes, but it has a whopping 33% more max hp, putting it by far in the lead at highest base hp, and combined with more equipment space, makes it the best hull tank. However, it's always going to be slower, turn slower, etc. due to lacking normal crew.

The venghi death ray is a weapon that you can get, but as beams go it's not the best. If you go crafting you can pretty easily beat it, and make yourself a stronger one. (The death ray is also made for the venghi spinal, which has extra heat reduction, so it's basically impossible to use anywhere else)

Interesting about the dread, also wanted to ask seeing i'm looking to build my fleet i looked up the best frigate and it says V4G-A Venghi Ship is best but then i looked at the comments on steam on other posts and others say not... Raven, Nightmare, Beetle (if Equipped Right) or Archimedes is best, i can't get the V4G-A without finding it as a derelict somewhere cus of being too quick to join COT (i will get one if i find one) but im currently looking at Valkyrie or Archimedes to get from the latest COT Station i found but can't decide which is better to go with?

Which ship is best most certainly also depends on how you like to play the game. At the moment, I prefer my Venghi V4G-A, especially since it has HP regeneration of 3%/sec.

Nice Build, One Last Question... Is It Possible to start a new game as a dreadnought if you start with the right unlocked perks?
Myriad Jan 27, 2023 @ 3:42pm
Well, yeah. You need the Outis background, and three Perks... Acquired Wisdom, The Last Starfighter, and Sloppy, and no other Perks that further reduce your starting ship size.

Nice, TY Also i can't decide which is better with Frigates Because i Really Like Archimedes But V4G-A is still a good pick. Oh and recently i Managed to Unlock the Lacewing by getting the Battleship Raid perk by experimenting with the smaller ships and custom weapons (it was still very hard but i got it) so i might make a Playthrough Starting as The Lacewing Ship seeing that it is unobtainable in-game Otherwise unless its hidden as a random derelict somewhere? But i've never seen it anywhere so i don't know if you can get it in-game if you don't start as it.
Myriad Jan 27, 2023 @ 5:13pm
You either start with the Lacewing, or you don't get it. As for your two Frigates, both are good. Obviously the Archimedes is harder to get. It's a choice between range and 360° turrets.

Edit: The V4G-A has more weapons than any Frigate by a longshot, making it a beast. The Archimedes is a blue tier ship, and one of my favorites, but it's a toss up when you're looking at the weapon power of the V4G-A.
