The Trading in Star Valor is Iffy, and many players don't Like it- I'm one of the Minority who does enjoy it, and even have a Game Profile specificly for Trading
It's kind of hit-and-miss, when you find a Sector that has 2-3 Stations and you find commodities that can be profitable, Load Up all the Cargo on your ships you can and do a back-and-forth until the price/profit isn't feasable anymore- also it is uncommon to see a direct Station A to Station B one item one direction, 2nd item back- it's more Likely it will be a 1-2-3 between 3 Stations, and several different items- In general I find it helpful to have a notepad by your PC to write down and map where certain commodities go, and also there will be 2 Sectors connected that will often give you some Station to Station Trade options
I find also that there can be-
-Trading between Stations in a Single Sector
-Trading between 2 Sectors connected by Jumpgate
-Trading Long Distance by Warp Jumping, either near or far
So while the Trader Codex 3.0 gives you that average/highest/Lowest price and it CAN be helpful, you'll really end up taking time scanning the Large Galaxy Map for Coordinates for the actual Sectors, they're usually far apart, and the prices will then change anyway depending on how much you're buying/selling
It's actually easier to just have a Trader Codex 2.0 and a notepad and write down good commodity prices yourself- now DO upgrade to the Trader 3.0 for the Trade Price increase, but I tend to ignore the high/Low recommendations and just Look at average prices
Also certain commodities will tend to ALWAYS be roughly around a certain price range- examples- Coffee and Wine will usually be @ 315-330 credits, when you find a Station that is selling Wine for 230, buy and stock up 50-150 in either your Cargo Hold, or spread around your other Fleet Ships, then 4-5 Sectors down the Line, you see the Price is again 330 and you sell it for Big Profit- After a while you'll see which items are selling for what and what you might want to stock up on
I find that one of the better ways to do Trading is get either your Main Ship, or 2-3 Escort Fleet Ships and have them be the ACTUAL Cargo/Trade/Freighter Ships with Larger Cargo Holds- Hauler-Mule-Theseus-Kurma-Donkey-Goliath are some- quite a few "mixed role" Corvettes and Frigates have surprisingly Large Cargo Holds as well, and you should purchase the Cargo Expansions to increase them more- You'd Think the Syndicate Ships would be Great Trade Ships, but with the exception of the Beatle, they're really just average, but give you some set bonuses- The Syndicate Ships are REALLY there to be Protection/Muscle to Defend the Trade Ships- Use them that way and some other Ship Types for Protection and mix in the Better, Actual Cargo/Trade Ships to Haul the commodities in
There are also 5-8 Perks that will increase your Cargo as well, and two Skills in the Business Skill Tree- one will increase your Cargo Capacity, and one will make all Metals, Mined or Traded 1/2 the Cargo Space- that 2nd one is Key for Mining of course, but also frees up Cargo Room in general for other Items and when you find say, Titanium selling for 80, when it's average is 135- you stock up, store it, and sell it Later
I find for me it's better to not usually expect to find Direct one-to-one Trade Routes, but to capitalize on them when I DO find them, and again, those one-to-one Routes will quickly change prices once you flood a Station with hundreds of units of a commodity
I find it better to have say a Donkey as a Main Ship, fill 1/2 of my Cargo with "common" Tradables Like Wine, Silver, Titanium, Basic Medicine, Water Purifiers, etc and just hang onto them and sell them bit-by-bit as I come across a Station that is buying at a High Price- Cargo/Trading Ships won't be Fast or be Lethal in Combat, but will usually be high on Armor/Defense and have a surprising amount of Weapons and usually Turrets- the Mule for example, I was just flying about trying to do strictly Trading, but ended up killing quite a Lot of Pirates Solo, who kept attacking me- more dropped Loot as well, some I would equip, most I would then sell for extra Profit
So yeah, those are some of my Tips for Trading-
Trading is Trickier and more nuanced, even confusing, in Star Valor than other games- but when you DO get it down, and DO make those HUGE Sales the Profit is ENORMOUS, Like
25-80K Credits selling a Single Huge Block of a commodity
Many, even Most I'd say players dislike the Trading side of the Game- It IS actually Faster and Easier to be a Miner or even Combat/Pirate/Bounty Hunting- but I personally enjoy it, and again even have a Game Profile Devoted to Trading- usually most players are probably more comfortable with just finding a good, short sell point for a commodity, buying 20-40 of it and doing small Trades here and there
Hope that gives you some more insight for Trading
Here is all that you need: a Venghi system with 2 or 3 stations. Check the prices for "progenitor thingies" - if one station has them around 2.9k or less you can easily sell them for 3.2 at the other station. Even more with the right skillpoints.
The price only changes when you get below a certain stock threshold, I found. So after 20-ish runs suddenly your original supplier will be at 3.3k and the station you were hauling to will sell at 2.9. So you just reverse the route... or move to another system and do the same. The skillpoints break the whole economy even more because you will always have a 15% advantage.
Boring AF but I got an easy 800k that way and then went exploring. I will be doing this exact thing every new playthrough I think, it's just too easy to get rich.

Then if the actual list is not visible ingame - where is it stored in the game folder? I can write a tool myself to go through all those records for some diversity and maximum profits. Also for roleplaying purposes, maybe I want to be an ironmonger or something.
What also might be part of it, is that whatever Stats, Trading Lists, Faction Bases, Sector Info, EVERYTHING really changes as soon as you explore another Sector- Star Valor is Like EXTRA Random Generated, very Sandbox- all info is based is what you've already explored, I've seen it happen where you explore 2-3 Sectors, forget to save, die, reload, and then those same 2-3 Sectors are completely different- there isn't even really a "short term" planned rollout or set way Sectors are generated, the Game just really Generates everything as you go
So, I'm probably not being helpful for what you're really Looking for Ninja, apologies
Maybe though, up in the Pinned List Area, go to the Star Valor Discord and ask around more there- it has WAY more discussions and player traffic than here on Steam
Thanks for your explanation nonetheless! I really appreciate it.
Discord, however, is something for the younger generation. I have no experience with it and I really don't want to be reminded of those ancient chatrooms.
Glad I was able to maybe help you on some finer points about Trading, at Least about what I've Learned and Experienced
Again I'll suggest this, even though it does seem Dated and Odd for a PC Game in relation to what SHOULD Be an actual set Trading/Commodity List of Prices-
I use a Pen and a Notepad, and note, plan, and map out Trade Routes that way, and they do seem to break down fairly quickly
The Trader 3.0 info is Ok for average prices, but that's what the Trader 2.0 also does-
The High and Low Prices CAN be helpful, IF the Sector is relatively close, Warp Jump wise-
But Usually it will be Far Apart, and you again will be spending a bit of time checking the Large, Galaxy Map for specific co-ordinates- sometimes everything Lines up easy, and you make Truly Gigantic Profits-
But Usually I do the Pen and Notepad, or just stock up 1/2 my Cargo with known, "common" items- Like Wine, Coffee, Titanium, Silver, you mentioned Progenitor Cells (those are one of the BIG Moneyakers) and when you come across a Big Cash Opportunity with a Station, sell for profit, then clean out every Station in 5 surrounding Sectors and Cash that in too
Good conversing with you Sleazy Ninja
On the galaxy map, if you click a star system there is a "notes" option on the top right. It allows you to write stuff down and give it a specific colour. It helps a lot IMO. Notes also show next to the name so a quick hover over and you can see whatever you wrote down.
