Though I will say the V5 series are great alts to Achilles and Hades, and a Valkyrie start is an interesting challenge
Reaper - Yacht (lacewing just feels wrong to me. I usually try to skip over this size ship but most ships here are very nice. I'm not exactly sure why the PMC gets the reaper, but if they were smart these would be their iconic escorts for their large ships and fleets)
Guardian 4-77 -Corvette (there are a lot of really good corvettes out there but the guardian is really awesome with its thin profile)
V4G-A Frigate (I dislike Frigates, almost all feel bad to me. but the V4 has a lot going for it)
At size 5-6 ships everything except the Goliath feels awesome and varies enough that you can shuffle skill points around to make them feel amazing.
You did ask for 5, so I'll toss in the Squire A-22 -shuttle as a last pick. The Mi-lao is almost a Yacht and is 'limited' similar to the lacewing so isn't a good representative of the size. The Squires +2% global trading is super handy and if you bump into a derelict shuttle in the first couple of maps as you explore the +2 fleet commander means you can get a fleet going fast with out needing to pay Mercs or wait for a +fleet co-pilot.
I'll save my list for later ;)
Who knows? :D
Beatle 8-42 (turret + 33% warp range)
Claymore
Empress
Sanctuary (best ship for training/evolving crew)

Free Love Man
So I'm probably going over 5, but here goes
1- Scourge- Saw it, wanted it, My Favorite Mining Ship, still my Favorite Ship Period
2- Hawk- Damn Good Player Ship, Damn Good AI Escort Ship
3- Dragon- Lots of Good Yacht/Fighters to choose from- This is the best Looking, Toughest, and gives you EIGHT Weapon Slots- I do a 0.0/.25/0.5/.75 firing ratio on the Main Lasers and it Shreds Enemies
4- Bolder- the Little Mining Ship I had with my 3rd try, and when I started going DEEP into the game- Tough, Big Cargo for a Yacht and Mining, just a great Mining Ship overall, and I tend to get one with every profile, just for Mining- even got Lucky and found a Bolder floating in space for my Pirate Profile
5- Goliath- It's Freakin' HUGE, Rivals most Dreadnoughts in size, I was worried it wouldn't fit through the Jumpgates- went for a single, solo ship playstyle for it, maxed the weapons from 10 to 15 with the Double Barreled Cannon being 5pt Plasma Guns, and it demolishes EVERYTHING- I can Kill Pirate Fleets by myself, and had never Killed a Pirate Station without the help of an Allied Fleet, now my Goliath Kills Stations by itself- I can take Direct Flux Cannon hits from Terrors and other Ships, still be 2/3rds Health, and Finish them before they can recharge- on the peaceful, commerce side, I went for the Goliath as a Mining Ship, with 2 Mining Drones helping as well, not only is it great at Mining, but the Cargo Hold is also Massive, mine is currently at 340 and I'm about to increase it some more- I've only had this Ship for 3 weeks, and it's already in my Top 5- I Love it So Much
So there, I stayed at 5- but here are a few other Ships that I put in my "Favorites" Category (sorry, I can't help it)
Archimedes- Just got this, only had it for a week, and it's even better than I thought- this was one of those Ships I saw from 1st playing the game and went "gotta get one" - the weapons only being the 3, 360 Turrets is pretty unique, and effective- you get 9 total weapon capacity, but it's Listed as a possible 13- I kept seeing on the Star Valor Wiki that because the Archimedes was all Turrets, the +1 per Ship Size Skill you can get in the Combat Tree didn't work- LIES- I gambled on it and tried it and can 100% confirm you go from 9 to the full 13 weapon slots using the Skill to give you +4
Venom- I took this as a Temporary Ship, building up to a Venghi Faction playthrough, and was going to sell it and replace it with the Venghi 4 Frigate- Part of the reason I took it was just because it was Purple, my favorite color- But now the Venom has been so good, I can't sell it, going to keep it as a secondary ship, and can see myself starting other playthroughs with it
The Venghi 4 Frigate aka "Klingon Bird of Prey" - haven't even gotten one yet, but am very close when I go back and Focus on that Profile- One of those "saw it gotta have it" Ships- Lots of Weapons, 2 360 Turrets on the wings, I know it's going to be even better that I think it will be
The Syndicate Horizon- Also don't even have this yet, and this is the biggest "saw it gotta have it" Ship of them all- was the 2nd Ship I wanted after the Scourge- While I don;t have one yet I already have a Notepad with 10+ pages and designs for it and the Fleet around it (and I think I can get the Fleet from my standard 52 all the way up to 68 with my planning) - I should have started a Fleet with the Horizon as my goal back in October, but I got distracted from playing other Ships and Profiles- This has actually been a Good Thing, as since then the Horizon has become a Carrier (and it always Looked Like it was supposed to be one), the Crafting Update for weapon maximisation, and all the extra Perks I've unlocked I can now start with- I've been holding off because The Horizon will be Leading my Largest, most complicated Fleet I've ever attempted, and I'm positive it will become my Favorite Profile
The Claymore- I'm THIIIS Close to having one, and Flying it Solo or with a smaller, Lethal Fleet with Razors and Dragons on the Lone Wolf Background, which I already have gotten- another "gotta have it" Ship, have pre-planned the weapons and am going from 22 to 27 and know it will Annihilate my enemies
The Donkey- a surprise for me, as I went for a mellow, peaceful Trade Profile- went for the Donkey (and before that the Mule) just for the Look and the Large Cargo Space for Trade Goods- was going to avoid Combat 80% of the time, but both the Mule and now the Donkey have been surprisingly good at Fighting, and the Donkey has 5 seperate 360 Turrets, one has a 4pt capability, and 20 weapons overall
The Dominance- The Only Dreadnought I've gotten yet, and really because I had a full Level 50 Mining Fleet, and had gotten so Rich I had the Cash to Burn- but also LOOK AT HOW MASSIVE THIS THING IS- I'm still tweaking the Weapon and Equipment Loadout, and only use it as a side project for fun- but I already have 4 Solo Titan Kills with it, and use the Dom to squash any troublesome Boss Ravagers that give my Scourge Led Fleet a hard time
And these Ships below, always good, have used them Multiple Times-
-the 3 Ships in the Valor Series- the Red Mk II being my Favorite
-the Seagull- Good, Solid Escort
-the Feisar- Mostly because I'm a Huge Fan of the "Wipeout" Anti-Grav Racing Game Series, and this is a nice Easter Egg and Looks exactly Like the Feisar Team Ship- but it turned out to be a good Shuttle/Escort as well
-the Wolf- Little brother to the Dragon
-the Fury- mean Little Shuttle for the CoT, I use em with many Fleets
-The Mauler- the AI Pirates use these stupidly, as a Player Ship it's Top Notch
-The Walrus- can design it many ways, I've done great Missile Gunships with them
-The Shark- Sleek, Mean, more Offense, weak Defense, but sneak attack from the rear and it's over- I have a really nice one with my Pirate Fleet
-The Raven- Good, Solid Ship
-The Pelican- also a Good, Solid Ship, +2 Shuttles if you want
So yeah, sorry, went Long posting again, but there are so many great ships in Star Valor, and is yet another credit to Laious, and the person who helped him design the ships (my apologies, I forgot his name, is it Xyranoth?) Star Valor is such a great game, on many Levels
Yes, Xyranoth is his nickname ;)
Also worth mentioning Warsoul, who was doing the models before Xyra
just loving your nice posts :-)
I swear by the Archimedes, but in my current playthrough The Children of Terra doesn't like me very much, so I'm looking to expand my fleet elsewhere.
My List is something like this:
Achilles - would love to combine it with vengh blasters :D
Terror - for my pirate/vengh play, i really like the badass look
Scourge and Kurma - for Mining
Mi-Laoshu - ofc for speedness
Marco - speedy explorer with Cargo
Next try out would be Empress,
Cant talk about Dreads, not reached yet (and sorry to say but for me all are ugly as hell :d )
difficulty here
do u like having more little ships or only a few massive ships
what i can say the Raven is a very solid Wingman
Vengh Cruiser Carrier as ur main + 2 Vengh Cruiser Battleships with Death Ray are also ok :-D (btw i would say vengh ships need names, that can be saved in your brain
For smaller Ships :
T2: Phantom
T3: Walrus /guardian
