Must you play Friendism in order?

ok to sum this all up, its 2 am and i *just* got into homestuck a month ago or something like that, and now im sleep deprived and decided to play friendism; heres the problem though, i generally favor some volumes (by their cover and from their descriptions, some seem better than others) more than others and only have enought to get 4 volumes. Basically what im asking is can i hop around this thing like tarzan or must i go in order for it to make sense??? help lol

well it's better to go in order cause there are some references of previous volumes in the most recent games

There's this streamer & YouTuber, RevScarecrow, who only plays 1 ending for each troll (not counting the instant death ending), and he's having a good time despite later volumes mentioning endings he never got.


But since you got into Homestuck only a month ago, I can recommend 2 volumes that have references to some characters Homestuck only mentioned briefly because they aren't relevant to the plot, if you're interested in that.

First, 2 volumes that lead up to them-
Volume 2 with Cirava (neon-lookin' goldblood) and Amisia (smol indigoblood). Cirava is mentioned in several other volumes, including Volume 8, and you get to meet Amisia later anyway, so it's best to get to know eachother.
Volume 7 with Remele (pirate-lookin' blueblood) and Konyyl (the fat muscular oliveblood) because Remele's awesome and Konyyl is linked to Azdaja.

Now, the 2 volumes with the HS references-
Volume 8 with Tyzias (tired teal) and Chixie (cute bronze). Tyzias' route is the one.
Volume 9 with Azdaja (goldblood with a trenchcoat) and Amisia. Amisia's route is the one that's important here.

TL;DR
Play Volume 2, then 7, then 8, then 9.
