Online coop actually viable this time?
Do you get EXP when playing online coop with a friend, this time? And do you both get clear credit when you finish a stage, this time?

I can't understand why working online multiplayer is so hard for Omega Force.

Yeah, I was playing through it with a friend the entire way. I think we had to both play the map twice though, one for each of us, but it also meant we had more xp to avoid needing to farm as much.
Are you sure the non-host, the joining player, was getting exp? I was hearing that they don't, but the rules for how coop works in a niche game like this are so undefined, and TecmoKoei sure doesn't like to tell anybody.
I've been playing with a friend with him as the host. I can confirm 100% I was getting exp, as well as weapon drops, gems, etc. Iirc when the game launched the guest didn't get anything, but they patched it in later. But as Sovery_Simple said, if you both want to go forward in the story (which also includes unlocking characters) you'll have to keep switching hosts and repeat stages.

How does coop work? Can you queue for someone to join or can only someone on your friends list join?
