Weapon Master achievement

Has anyone gotten this legitimately? I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong or it really is the massive grind it seems to be. Steam says I've clocked up 58 hours since Ultimate was released, and I would guess at least 40 of those were in Infinity mode, but I've still only managed to make 24/100. Even if I add up the additional incidental drops I've gotten for other characters, I still doubt I'm more than a third of the way there.

Mostly what I'm doing is grinding Ophiuchus. The game says subsequent clears have increased rewards, and I guess I do see that to a point, but it's still not really as significant as I would like, I have probably gone through the tower dozens of times now and I'm getting about 3-4 unique materials for each active character per clear. At this rate I'm thinking it will take me another 100+ hours to get this single achievement, which is a massive outlier compared to all the others (I had 100% in the base game in about 70 hours all up, and I wasn't even trying to be efficient about that).

So is there a better way of doing this than just Ophiuchus? And if no, do duplicates for the same officers count towards your 100 or do they all have to be unique?

You should have read the achievement. It clearly says 100 different types of weapons.

My money is on no, because even after a week straight farming infinity? I was lucky enough to craft just ONE weapon.

Farming gems isn't that hard, but Crystals... I've spent out all of my 600 crystals and now I'm on crysis. Even with 50% additional bonus they're so rare.

Farming gems isn't that hard, but Crystals... I've spent out all of my 600 crystals and now I'm on crysis. Even with 50% additional bonus they're so rare.

gems and crystals arent the issue, im talking the several dozen different materials needed for crafting, like feathers or banners etc. Crystals you can just get by playing Pandemonium story missions, think I have a few hundred on me atm because I have nothing to spend them on atm.

for pots I generally use Saika(C3 string), as for the rest ohh god... I do use the Nemea Lion Sacred Treasure that thing's charge attack mows down A LOT of mobs

At first that may be the case, but if you play Ophiuchus enough you'll be swimming in that stuff, it's not a concern at all if you're going for the achievement. By the time I finished it I think I had enough of those materials for at least half a dozen more weapons just from incidental drops, but you need so many gems and especially crystals to complete it that you'll definitely need to spend some time elsewhere to get enough.

That's already significantly better than I was doing, I was mostly just rushing some of the DLC maps with heaps of officers, I don't have actual numbers but I was getting 10-12 per map and finishing in about 9-10 minutes (Pandemonium difficulty with a max level character and X weapon). Not sure what exactly you're doing on that stage to get that many crystals, and I uninstalled the game after I was done so I can't really check, but if anyone else is still going for this achievement I think this is probably worth looking into for crystal farming.

for crystals, in Chapter 7.4 - Gaia, the Goddess of Earth, if you don't defeat kiyomori taira and himiko, himiko will keep summon monsters. stay in the room where monsters summoned and keep killing monsters.

yes, nullification ophiuchus, you can see my screenshot above.
4 gems supporter, 3 max promotion member, unity magic kill soldiers, nemea lion magic and musou restore gauge

A bit different from what you have but thankfully to you it's still much better than replaying some annoying stage in this game (and wasting 30-40 minutes on mosters is much better).
