Your biggest character surprise?
What surprised you the most about characters you picked up in Orochi 4? Did you discover someone you didn't like before? Did someone you used to love fall from grace and end up a nonfactor?

For me there were many characters I started liking but these two I remember the most:

Himiko. I still remembered her moveset from I think Orochi 2, where she was mainly an aoe clearance character. The balls of light shooting from those floating pots were forming long chains and were clustered tighty together so she basically used to hit everything within a large radius. But in Orochi 4 there are way less balls of light coming from her pots and instead she is a power up character. After you use RB+B (which already does a significant amount of damage) her normal C3 attack is so insanely strong it devours huge crowds of officers all at once. I love those changes!

Liu Shan. Well I never really liked the guy and still don't like his personality, but I only ever played him with a rapier as weapon. The bench he has in this installment however, I think it's freaking hilarious! Doesn't matter that the animation times are way too long to be a good character. Just watching him slap people on his bench and kick them off, or having a herd of fiery boars run in circles around Liu Shan chilling on his bench is too hilarious to not play him.

Disappointments were:

Loki. Attack speed does nothing for him since every chain damage is limited by the animation time for when he summons the godly weapon of choice. He's literally a sitting duck all the time.

Ares. Omg he has the best looking attacks to ever grace the earth. How cool is it to summon dragons and they do all your fighting? Next level of cool! Sadly, it takes so long for the dragons to do their work he is the slowest, most useless combatant around. Frankly, if you just give him brawn and hit the enemy with standart attacks he clears faster than when activating the chains.

I've started to like Liu Shan's personality over time actually. I appreciate how secretly smart he is, and he's the complete opposite to Jiang Wei. Liu Shan is ACTUALLY benevolent compared to other people like Liu Bei or Zhuge Liang, and he only acts after carefully considering things. Meanwhile, Jiang Wei drove Shu into the ground with doomed campaigns over and over. Liu Shan's been done dirty, people always hate him unfairly. No idea how Jiang 'I ruined Shu' Wei is so popular.

Guan Yinping. like i never knew about the spinning of the analog stick to make her combos better so i always use to think her combos were nothing special. but with the EX attack C4 combo it makes her really fun to use with fire as the enemies just stay in the air longs periods of time with moves like the C5 and C6.

Best Surpise: Nuwa - with max speed, bolt, brawn, absorption and slay she's a killing machine!

Worst Suprise: Yukimura Sanada, played the heck out of him with many other games, though with this 170 character roster, he's no longer of interest for me to play.

Most underrated, IMO:
Takakage Kobayakawa - just awesome looking design, and a clearing machine when buffed appropriately.
Zhang Jiao - Maybe one of the top three designs in the game, IMO - just looks fantastic and when leveled up with all magic and power to his weapons, especially bolt 10 dude is a MACHINE! He's like Gandolf making it rain destruction, tuly epic character!

Nuwa has to be the first. I have always considered her to be the worst character in the game, what with the horrible range and uncontrollable speed. But this one actually made her decent.
Then there's Ina who I always considered to be... kinda meh... but she is a killing machine in this one.

On a worst scale there is Yueying. I don't remember her ever being this useless. But whatever.

Other than that... idunno... there isn't much that has changed my perception of characters themselves. I guess I'm impressed at how kind and generous Kai is, but it's not like I didn't love her before, I just like her even more now.
Although I'm totally shipping Xu Huang and Aya now xD

I hate to like demolish your past opinion on Nu Wa, but she kinda still is the same she ever was. Minus the RB/Magic changes. I played her the very same way in 2 and 3, she always was a swift attacker (yeah low range is her trademark alright). Her moveset is the very same as in 3. I've been kinda unsecretly in love with her since forever and she doesn't feel any different.

But in return I completely agree on Yueying. I'm so disappointed with her, since I love her looks. Even with a fully pimped weapon she still does everything worse than everyone else. I mean her musou is decent but it doesn't always fully hit (explosions can miss after the wooden oxes hit). She is still playable though. Just always gotta think "if I was hero x now instead I could have done this better". There are worse characters though, the ones that got too long animations to be useful.

Omg this is true! I discovered him so late in Spirit of Sanada after ignoring him the entire time in 4-II. I have yet to play him in Orochi 4 though. I don't like his babyface. But moveset wise he rocks.

Omg yes this is so true!! And the worst about it is when I was younger I fell for him myself. I always thought he was so brave for never giving up, for being so loyal to his lord, for wanting to make the wishes of the departed become reality. But he really is just too ignorant to see people suffering because of his actions.

I believe the reason for him to be so popular is because "never give up" is such a popular thing in modern media and encourages people to never give up themselves no matter how bad they feel about their life. Plus he is a good looking young lad and good looks make people go easier on the personality side.

Ares is amazing what are you talking about? His dragons clear the field faster than any characters I've played including Odin.

I'm training Diamondback cause his Musou is hilarious, I bought the outfit DLC just because of him, he's wearing Orochi's hat and outfit is so funny.

Kaguya is a surprise, I like her bamboo tree, what's better than hitting your foes with bamboo tree from below and do the same till they die right?

Zeus and Loki are disappointing, slow attacks especially Loki getting interrupted too much.

Tadakatsu Honda still rocks, he's the only char I remember when I played WO from 10 years ago. They change his moveset a bit but he's still strong.

I like Kaguya a lot as well, very capable and fun to play with. Honda is a crazy powerful, a true battlefield clearer.

I'm talking about his animations taking so long you literally spend half an eternity inside a mission because of it?

I like Kaguya three err I mean too! :D

Haven't played her in 3, avoided like fire, but in 2 she was completely useless. So this moveset is kinda new to me. And with elements being "slightly" more balanced than "allmighty" in 2, she is way more controllable now with maxed Agility. She's still very, VERY far from being my favorite, but at least she's useable now.

I thought the same. And I believe the reason for this might be the difference in framerate. On 60 fps, or even on 45 fps it's easier to manage her speed than on 30 fps like the xbox/360 had.

Cao Ren is somewhat of a dissapointment, very limited attacks and overall damage.

I am just surprised Guan Xing can used this way. Not mine but worth looking at.
