Man, Super R-type was one of my favorite games on the SNES. This gem came in my recommendations and because it looked just like R-type, I instantly picked it up and bought it.
Zero regrets.
Best thing in the whole game? the shop will pay you back FULL price for your items. that's right, if you didnt like something or just need more money for something else, just sell it. 0 money lost on any transaction. Just awesome.

It's fun, and it's got a lot of improvements to the presentation and more interesting ways to loadout your ship. My biggest problem with this game is that it's so short. I played all the levels in about 1/3 the time of Jets'n'Guns Gold. If they ever decided to add more content to this through DLC, I'd gladly pay.

Sexy guns and lasers

Like the first one, but you can replay levels to up your high score and find secrets you missed. I miss the goofy comic book style mission descriptions from the first, though. From what I can tell, you don't get to buy new ships, either. But I guess you can customize the appearance of the first one

Shorter than the first, but the picture is crisper. The original is overall better but you have to dive into compatibility and dpi settings in order to get the resolution to work. There are fixes you can find in forums that aren't that hard to implement. It's worth it to play the first, and then play this if you want an expansion of the concept.

Lots of comparisons to tyrian in the reviews. If you're looking for something else that's similar, try Raptor. Its not on steam, but you can find it on GoG.

Good shoot'em right. But too short.. Would've enjoyed x3 more levels and some more ships maybe..

Simply Amazing 10/10

This is exactly what a sequel should be: it's all the stuff ya love about the first, plus a few new tricks to keep things interesting. J'n'G 2 is a constant eruption of ludicrous violence w/ good music and a lot of guns to play with.

i'm not a big fan of shmups but once i played this game i played for three straight hours. good clean graphic, good music. waiting for jets'n'guns 3!
