Marathon - is it time-limited

I've played with my gf couple times and then we've decide to try marathon mode. After we finished 50th week, bought everything and actually aimless last couple weeks, we've just closed the game and thats all - no end-game statistics or possibility to continue the game.
As there is an achievement like 'Finish game in marathon mode" - how\when this mode ends?

Looking forward to future updates as the game is really fun, but quickly bored due to lack of content and it is easy to find the tactic how to beat it after couple of tries (especially 50+week marathon).

Not sure if you still need an answer, but a marathon game only ends once one player maxes out all four of the bars around their character picture - money, health, education, and happiness.
You will know when they are maxed, because that section will turn orange.

Education - you need to complete EVERY course at the University
Happiness - buying a lot of household goods seems to boost this quickly
Money - I thiiiiiink you need approx $4,000 in the bank to max this
Health - go to the gym, purchase cleansing food from the market... anything that has a red heart next to it when you hover over it will increase this bar.

Seems like such mode is quite boring
