The server can be configured to forbid connections from modified clients. This mode forbids client mods and puts the client into the special protected mode to prevent any client modifications, and ensures that it's using the vanilla core. By design, it's not possible to use any client mods while playing on such a server.
It's the only way that we can ensure fair gameplay without cheaters spoiling PvP gameplay.
Whitelisting certain client mods is not possible as the client is running the vanilla core and have layers of protection to ensure this. It's not viable to change without compromising security and reliability.
Regarding the "automaton" mod. We have considered integrating this mod (by implementing similar systems) in the main game but decided it's just not a good impression to have an overcomplicated system (that only a few players will be able to configure to take full benefit of). Instead, we've rebalanced the game and implemented drones that really make it easy to gather plenty of resources, and they're inexpensive and available as early as Tier 3 (with higher tiers providing more advanced drones and the option to control more of them simultaneously). And you don't need to collect grass to get fibers in the late game—you can craft a huge amount of synthetic fibers with a reasonable resource cost. So, in early gameplay automaton may feel like a useful feature, but starting from Tier 3 (which doesn't take more than a few hours of gameplay) you can play just fine without it.
Regarding the "recipe" mod, I assume you meant CNEI mod, an in-game wiki. We may consider implementing a similar feature right in the game, meanwhile, you can use the game wiki https://cryofall.fandom.com/wiki/CryoFall_Wiki
Also, you can use CNEI with CryoFall Editor https://steamcommunity.com/app/829590/discussions/5/1812044473314225973/ —it's a separate application that you can run from Steam Client while playing the game.
Regards!
For the grass, you can craft plenty of synthetic fibers, there is a recipe in Tier 3 basic technologies, Chemistry tech group.
