stuck in apokolips

my custom character does not have the vent ability and i cannot access the customizer.
I am afraid that i might have to restart the entire game.

also playing the switch version, this was just the only place i could find for help

If you just got to the apokolips hub zone, you need to do the next story mission before you can leave.

i tried to do that but i cannot beat the level as the custom character cannot go through vents

If you just got to apokolips your custom character should have the "grow/shrink" ability locked in (as in unable to remove it in the character creator) which allows you to use vents. But I don't see why you need to go through a vent to get to the next story mission?
