The Stillness of the Wind

The Stillness of the Wind

Endless mode?
I really like to take my time with games and even though the game is 3h long i would like to spend more time tending to the farm.

An endless mode would be a very different game and not what I set out to do. For me, that world is inextricably linked to Talma's story, though I do appreciate the feeling of wanting to spend more time in the world without having to replay the story over and over again.

I will have to think about if I could go about this without detracting from the core ideas of the game, how feasible it is work wise, logistical issues with the ports/localisation etc.

So I am considering something along these lines, but I am not promising anything! :p

I hope this is included in a separate mode to the story - or maybe even becomes unlocked after you find all the statues for your shelf.

I think it would benefit the game enormously, I see maybe that the devs want to keep their artistic integrity and keep it as it is - but, I think everyone after playing feels the same way. I'm itching to replay, but knowing how it all ends it's hard to justify playing again as I just get too into daily life with Talma.

As a side, maybe things do get difficult in the winter, which could be your challenge for endless mode, Talma slows down, chickens don't lay as often, crops don't grow, when I saw winter I was like, OMG!

And then, well you know …

Thank you for considering, we love your game, but it would be nice to just spend some more time in it since you made it so beautifully ;)

Thank you for considering and for the awesome work you're done with the game.
I think that the endless mode should be "rewarded" to people only after completing the main story. It would be a nice thing for the ones that want to keep playing and would invalidate those that say "it's only 3h long" since virtually you can play it forever.
Keep up the great work!

I would love a endless mode for this game. Its such as beautiful game to play and 3 hours is a little short. maybe like others have said add it after finishing the game its self.

but hats off to the dev for this game. Brilliant!!

I agree that the whole point of the game is that Talma’s days are numbered. It was fun to form a routine, but I think the game would get boring and pointless if it went on forever in its current form.

I would however LOVE the creators to make a prequel- perhaps life on the farm when it was bustling, the life that Talma remembers, and perhaps it wouldn’t exactly be endless either as it leads up to whatever drove people into the city. Daily survival could be made to be a bit more challenging, as the original game ironically makes it fairly easy for Talma to survive until she suddenly can’t anymore.

Hey MoG. Think of endless mode as someone tending a zen garden. It wouldn't be a farming sim, but more about relaxation.

new buyer here, just wanting to say +1 to the desire to endlessly hang out at a fully decked out homestead with all the pretty/calming details while I tend to my goats and flowers. I don't care if the merchant recycles a small amount of dialog.

Here as well, would love an endless mode unlockable after completing the base story line.

I think overall it would detract from the story. Perhaps a sequel would be wiser, starting much earlier in another such character's life, living such experiences we are only remembering in this, those memories fade.

The more youthful time would give an opportunity to make life easier in one's old age, but the futility of hoarding and ceaseless "more" would also be there, as things spoil, misfortune robs us of our excess, etc. The strength of this game is moderation, economy of living, the middle path. Too many plants and you don't have time to make cheese, too many goats and there isn't enough hay. Too much wandering and it all falls apart.

Without the story it is akin to a babushka simulator, which would be fun it its own way, but leaving most of the wealth of the experience behind. A sequel with more of the person's life would be welcome, and would explore even more deeply the persistence of memory, but I wouldn't detract from this with a "mode" that robs the game of the point.
