Tried all four, only completed 1-3 so far.
If you played more than one mode, which was your favourite(s)? If you only played one mode, skip this question.?
Axe of Kindness (axe only).
How often would you play the modes?
Until I have all achievements.
Did you experience any bugs in the game?
None.
What input device were you using?
Keyboard & mouse.
Which was your favourite weapon?
Axe.
What are your overall thoughts on the enemies? What was your most like and least liked enemies?
They shouldn't spawn randomly! That makes the score barely comparable. And why do the fire enemies explode after killing them? That makes no sense in axe-only mode.
Did you find the difficulty of the final boss too easy or too hard
Difficulty is okay, but the traps should be destroyable.
How would you categorise the difficulty of the default mode?
Medium.
Any notes on the difficulty of the overall mode or specific areas within the mode?
It seems like the axe is stronger in axe-only mode. That's unintuitive and inconsistent. I think it should always deal the same damage, no matter which mode (axe-only strenght should be default).
Did you find enough Ammo / Health?
Absolutely.
How much fun did you have on a scale of 1 to 10? With 10 being the most fun you've ever had in a game and 0 being the least fun you've ever had.
5, a bit too frustrating.
Overall, I enjoy the challenges. However, I think the enemy types and their positions shouldn't vary. Furthermore, it would be great to see what exactly increases / decreases the score (not only the sum, but also the points for the categories) - and a live-score tracker in one of the upper corners of the screen would be nice! Finally, I don't think the kills should count towards the score, only deaths, hits (or heals, but not both) and time. I mean, the challenge is to escape, not to kill everyone.
Additional idea: Why four different modes and not one default mode with modifiers like:
- Stronger enemies.
- Axe-only.
- Lights out.
And stats + modifiers determine the score. That would be more coherent if you plan to add more levels, like the outside area. What game modes did you play?
So far only The Long Night and In Darkness
If you played more than one mode, which was your favourite(s)? If you only played one mode, skip this question.?
Axe mode. With the buff it is more fun, than if there was none thats for sure.
Would you recommend a friend, who's already played the main game, to jump back in and try out these modes?
Sure, they are a fun challenge and the shooting does feel good.
How often would you play the modes?
Dont know. I aim to play them as much as I need to obtain every achievement tied to them - get an A rank in all of them and finish them. Dont really see myself driven to compete for the leaderboards.
Gameplay
Did you experience any bugs in the game?
No, everything worked as intended.
What input device were you using?
Keyboard & mouse
Did you have any issues understanding or using the controls?
No. But you should mention that you can see your stats in-game while playing, especially helpful for people who are going for the two achievements related to killing and headshots.
How did you find the flow of the game? For example, did you find areas too easy or difficult to navigate? Did some areas feel too long or too short? Did you feel you didn't explore enough of an area before moving on?
In my initial run, it took me about an hour to finish as I was going slow. Maybe one area could be cut off, or shortened. I would say the basement could be altered a bit to be shorter.
Can you think of any way we could improve the gun mechanics?
They are solid, but I would maybe like to see the shotgun have a double shot fire mode. Perhaps killing some of the tougher enemies quicker if you sneak up to them. But apart from that, didn't really find anything I would add.
Which was your favourite weapon?
Pistol and shotgun
What are your overall thoughts on the enemies? What was your most like and least liked enemies?
I really disliked the woman. Her movements are very fast, erratic, and she can teleport. This isn't really good given that the protagonist is very slow and turns like a truck, so it can be a hassle to kill her. Also, I would like to see maybe stealth finishers? As it is now, the guns have no sound (enemies dont react to them), and I do like this, as it makes shooting fun, but maybe it can be tweaked a bit if we can also stealth takedown enemies, especially the lamp guys and the invisible guys.
As for the boss, I didn't like that you cant destroy his traps, or that you cant evade his chain. I know his chain is meant to do that because he moves slow, but I would suggest finding a new move he can do, that you can avoid, but not very easy. Also, the area where you fight him isn't a good spot, too small and tight. Would prefer to have a more open area, and for him to have more attacks than chain-yell-explosion (this is a single attack).
Did you find it easy or hard to locate the keys you needed to progress?
Yea, not really hard to find when your way is blocked off in every direction except one. I wouldn't really change this unless you plan on making this shorter, we dont need a 2h challenge because we have to find the key to progress and they are hidden somewhere.
Can you think of any way we could improve the enemies?
Well, I said they dont react to gun sound, and I would keep this as is. It would remove the fun of having guns. I would only improve the boss with what I already mentioned before.
Did you find the overall difficulty too easy or too hard?
It was ok during my first run. Now it's easier as I know what I need to do and what the enemies can do. Maybe add a slider we can use to randomize our experience - enemies have new attacks, different spawns, more aggressive and faster, etc.
Did you find the difficulty of the final boss too easy or too hard?
He was fine, a bit boring, but not difficult.
How would you categorise the difficulty of the default mode?
Medium on the first run
Easy on the second run
Haven't played the Axe and Hard mode to say how good the difficulty is for them.
Any notes on the difficulty of the overall mode or specific areas within the mode?
Lamp guys could use a headshot spot, like the place where their laser comes from. It's boring shooting them three times with the rifle.
Did you find enough Ammo?
Yes
Did you find enough Health?
Yes
Would you like to see more of these action-orientated modes going forward?
Hmmm. No. One reason. Movement. If that can be improved, then yes I would be down to see more of these challenges.
Final Thoughts
I would say it was a 5. The movement and the tad bit longer run is what I would say is not good. But the gunplay is satisfying and I also like that enemy spawns aren't the same every time. But, I would like to have headshots be one-hit kills at least for enemy grunts in Hard Mode, or add some sort of stealth takedown.
Based on your recent playthrough, what aspects of the game did you MOST enjoy?
Gunplay. So satisfying to pull off a headshot and hear the enemies head explode.
Based on your recent playthrough, what aspects of the game did you LEAST enjoy?
The woman
Would you consider adding how each stat - time, kills, headshots, etc impact the score?
also the woman is the worst, she takes forever to kill, hits too fast and is just a drain on a fun game mode. please patch her out
